Media Matters for Women
Valentina Barbacci is Social Impact and Development Advisor to TRVST, which facilitates and incentivises collaboration on sustainable solutions to social and environmental issues bringing together corporations, philanthropists, investors and engaged citizens.
She is also Executive Director of Media Matters for Women, a women’s empowerment charity that employs female journalists to create and disseminate broadcasts on women’s rights via Bluetooth and IVR in Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo. She serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Association for the Protection of Women’s and Children’s Rights (APWCR), which investigates and reports human rights abuses to local and international authorities on behalf of the most under-privileged in Cameroon.
Previously she was: Senior Advisor at I.G. Advisors, a strategic management consultancy focused on social impact – philanthropy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and fundraising; Client Solutions Director at General Assembly, a digital education company, working with Fortune 500 companies globally on their Digital Transformation strategy; Client Relationship Manager at Guidepoint Global, a leading primary research firm, managing research projects across all industries globally for analysts and investors in EMEA and APAC, including global banks, private equity firms, hedge funds, and mutual funds; and Assistant Director, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in New York, managing high-level meetings, study trips, and endowed lectureships on U.S. foreign policy with economists, policymakers, and academics.
She holds a BA in International Relations and Journalism from Boston University. She is fluent in English, Italian, French, and Spanish, and has a basic foundation in Turkish and Russian.
