Hello and welcome to Women’s Radio Station. I’m Dr Annette Greenwood, life coach and author, and on today’s show, Dr Annette talks, we’re having what I like to call a deep and meaningful conversation about a case of mistaken identity, dissolving the emotional roller coaster with my wonderful guest, Philip Wigg. Philip Wigg, a Western mystic, experientially realised the nature of the true self.

Following an inner calling, he walked out of his old life as a chartered civil engineer and director of a large business. He was unexpectedly called to share the profound gift of self-realisation with the world. His style is frequently reported to be simple, compassionate and offers exquisite clarity.

His sharing around the world is not rooted in any tradition and is ideal for this era. He lives near Ripon, England with his wife and their two golden retrievers, so I’m intrigued to know more about this huge transformation from chartered civil engineer to Western mystic. Welcome, welcome Philip, welcome today.

I can’t wait to get stuck into this topic because there’s so much to talk about. Thanks Annette, thank you very much. Delight to be here as your guest and hi to all the people that are listening, it’s a delight to be on the show, so thank you very much.

It’s my huge pleasure. I mean one of the things that I wanted to just mention before we even start was I’ve seen something on one of your posts recently on social media and I just felt drawn to read it out to our listeners and then maybe that’s the starting point of our conversation and it says if you had said to me in the year 2000 when I began meditation in the midst of a frantically full-on civil engineering career that I would end up leaving that world behind in 2009 and continue on a profound healing journey within and end up showing that message, I probably have thought you were crazy. So are you crazy or are you completely normal that you’ve had just this profound experience? Maybe you have to be a little bit crazy to follow this path but it’s kind of good, kind of crazy I suppose.

I think the interesting thing is you use the word normal and what I discovered on the journey which you obviously asked about which I’ll come on to in a moment is that rather than being normal you start to become natural so rather than the normalized or conditioned version of yourself that people sort of speak about this is how you should be, people get conditioned into that. All of that gets peeled away and the natural essence of you starts to come forward so I’d say it’s more natural than normal but did you ask about how that journey started? Do you want me to say something about that? Oh yeah because I mean when I read that I mean obviously we’ve had a discussion anyway and it was such a deep and meaningful discussion at the time but for people who might be listening thinking wow charted civil engineer to western mystic now we are talking a massive huge leap of faith how on earth would that transition happen? How do you go from civil engineer? Do you wake up one day and go right I’m now a western mystic and I’ve got to share this message where does that come from? Were you already having those messages? Sure okay so the answer to that is it’s not quite as you know when you wake up one morning it’s quite loud that what actually happened although I did wake up one morning I was actually on a skiing holiday in Whistler in Canada which is on the west coast of Canada and thousands and thousands of miles from home and I was a big skier in those days skied hard and I woke up and I’d been dreaming about work and I remember saying under my breath this has got to stop you know the dreaming about work and kind of briefly to kind of give people a sense of the journey I found meditation or meditation found me shortly after that learn how to meditate and are completely committed to that even though my working weeks were probably about 60 hours or something like that I somehow found half an hour a day to meditate every day and one thing led to another I found that not only was I becoming calmer inside because outside you would see me as a pretty calm person anyway but the things were settling down inside and I really found that meditation beneficial various other things came along with that with I looked at various kind of healing type things so I explored briefly and it was brief things like Reiki Quantum Touch EFT all of which I found profoundly beneficial both to myself and interestingly part of the journey with that was you know kind of helping others I like living two lives basically we can so we can join the week working and we can practicing these things more fully and it was beneficial for me but I and the meditation and so forth just deepened and deepened and deepened and although it had been a surprising calling to go into civil engineering in the first place you know because I was from a normal working class background and the first person in our family to go to university so that was a whole that was a big thing I suddenly realized in the midst of that process probably around 2005 I think it was that that phase of my life was going to come to a close and I was feeling more and more cold into this and really over the next four years that just deepened and deepened and deepened and became crystal clear that I needed in my case at least to leave that world behind I just the calling was so strong and I couldn’t ignore it any longer so at the height of my career and having just turned a flagship business around I said right I’m going and walked out basically one Friday and the journey just deepened after that and the meditation continued I started getting profound spiritual insights the first major one of those was in 2011 and one apart from the profound experience and insight that came with that was a clear message that I had to share this with people and I started doing that and I was a bit surprised at the impact not only that it had had on me which was a transformative experience but people were being touched by this very simple thing that we’ll probably come on to later and then you know having a big impact on them and that just accelerated and accelerated and then around 2014 was when the full-blown realization came throughout what I called infinite silence or infinite awareness or infinite consciousness and that was completely unequivocal and again with that having been bombarded with messages inside to share that just deepened when that happened and basically my whole life is dedicated to that now and the title or term western mystic came sometime in there after 2014 because people had started calling me things like master teacher guru and these weren’t titles that are resonated with in the sense that ultimately you realize there’s nothing for you to learn you only need to realize and it was made clear I wish to use the term western mystic so that’s the title I used now it wasn’t something I thought of it came in meditation indeed everything that I share comes came from meditation it’s not things I think about they said you know suddenly this clarity comes and I have to say this now I’ll have to share this now so it was quite the transition as you said but that’s how it unfolded completely unexpectedly really and I like that part where you said about you came from a normal family who just discussed the word normal you came from a normal family and you know you went to university so that was a massive you know something probably out of the norm for your family or something like that and that sounds really bizarre doesn’t it when I’m hearing you talk about western mystic that um something you said there about um the call in itself and you couldn’t ignore it can you share with us a bit more about how that calling came was it a feeling was it a knowing was it a something bombarded in you in your head how did that like manifest a feeling and a knowing uh two of the two words you used there definitely both of those an interesting part of it was that seven years before the full realization in 2014 um I got this web domain that came in uh which is now my website gateway location.org and I thought oh this must be a website I’m supposed to look at and I googled it and there was no such website and I thought how what is that you know because I’ve become so used to by this stage trusting my insights uh and so I kind of ignored it and then it was about six months later it came again and I googled it again but this time an option came upon the screen to acquire the domain and I had this dawn dawning realization that the domain was I was supposed to use it and so um so part of it was it was already been put in place seven years before the actual realization flowered that makes any sense to you so a feeling and knowing plus all sorts of other information like the website coming together that may be clear this was the direction we’re going now that’s falling into place kind of thing you talk about when um something does flow when sometimes you’re trying to get somewhere with something and then it’s not happening often that’s um people can describe it as a door closing in your face and if it’s not falling into place you need to move on from that so there’s there’s elements of that isn’t there and then this is in a knowing and it’s as we know and for people again who who who are listening you may or may not know what we’re talking about there’s that you’re coming out of your head are you into those those gut feelings and into your heart and yes the right conscious choices you need to make aren’t the philipp it’s not all based from an inner feeling and knowing sometimes you’ve got to do the figures you’ve got to do the maths you’ve got to look at the practical side of it or am I completely off beam there from what you’re saying you need both in my experience so the inner knowing comes and but then the head will start to argue the toss with you uh and what uh i found and this is what i share part of what i share with people over now is that all of those fears and doubts that come up around that they have to be faced felt and witnessed and dissolved um but you also you can’t just you know you’re going to still have to live and so yeah i spent a lot of time looking at the practicalities the maths could i afford to do this all this kind of stuff before i finally went went ahead so it was a kind of twin track approach really yeah rather than just following this spiritual path where you lead yourself down a path where you know i’ve heard of it before where people say it’s wrong to earn money or you need to be giving everything away and people are living on the poverty line and still refusing to accept money for it there’s that that balance between the two isn’t there yeah you have to be practical about it uh unfortunately i’d worked my way up through the career ladder and i got quite a lot of savings so it wasn’t mission critical to earn money if you know something straight away or anything like that it um it was more about my own journey for the first part of it but you really do need to take that into account and that actually you know that i mean that’s a whole separate subject and probably don’t want to get into that too much detail because there’s other things we want to talk about but the whole thing around money is a misunderstanding that people have money in itself isn’t intrinsically bad it’s the it’s the uh abuse of money that’s that is the problem that um that people have and i’ve got a whole long piece on the website about that but that’s a whole other subject really but you do need to consider the practical details yeah and that you write about this probably isn’t the the right timing for this one because there’s so many other things to discuss um all of the things that that came to me that i wanted to ask you and you may have other things that you want to talk about but i would like to touch on this up a minute there’s two things one of the things about what exactly is recognizing and embracing the infinite power of awareness to transform your life and realize inner peace what does that look like how is that in practice what okay yeah good question it’s a great question and it’s a very important question because that’s what self-realization is all about so let’s give a practical example here you know when people um and obviously more and more people are coming to meditation these days and typically if somebody’s come from a place where they’ve not been a meditator not been in a background where that takes place one of the first things that happens when people formally finally sit down to actually meditate is that they realize goodness me it’s noisy up here and up here i mean in my head you start to realize for the first time just how many thoughts are shooting around in your head and so forth and that people find that challenging them because they then start to struggle to uh still their minds and and so forth now actually this awareness of uh the first point of sitting down and opening to meditation and recognizing all this activity going on the thing that most people miss and in actually in my experience isn’t well understood uh in meditation circles is that the mere fact that when you literally stop and there’s a recognition wow there’s a lot of thoughts going on there’s a lot of noise going on up here the question doesn’t and the put let’s not recognize that if that thought process that noise is being seen what is it that seeing that what is it that is witnessing that and that therein the answer to that question is the essence of both meditation and self-realization because you’re eventually going to see even if you can’t see it straight away that that which is witnessed to or notices all that noise going on is awareness and the next question that doesn’t get explored enough in my experience with meditation in particular is that is that awareness or that witnessing presence affected by the thoughts or say the emotions in your body and the answer to that it turns out is no it’s not it just watches now let’s give an example here to try and sort of unpack this a bit for the listeners yeah in a situation we’ll just park the kind of meditation part for a moment i’ll come back to that in a moment and everything’s you know quite normal in your life you’re happily going about your day and then a trigger event arises and this event it doesn’t really matter what it is suddenly brings up an emotion in you know not everybody will have had this experience at some point it might be a small emotion it might be a big emotion it might be a tsunami of an emotion but suddenly it arises an event has occurred and suddenly there was no emotion one minute everything was hunky-dory and suddenly now there’s this emotion here now if you think of this emotion like a wave like a wave now eventually over time it might be quick it might be very slow but eventually that will dissolve that emotion the wave will like a wave doesn’t the ocean will return to the water the wave of emotion will pass now that whole journey that we’re just exploring here not from no emotion everything’s hunky-dory emotion wave arises and fades maybe even very slowly all of that is being watched witnessed noticed and the question is what is it that watches or witnesses or notices it and that’s the same awareness that is noticing the thoughts and all it does is it simply watches it is completely neutral about the emotion about the wave and it arises and it passes now the difficulty people have with emotions is that because nobody’s pointed this what I’m pointing out here to them because it’s not typical in the west at least that this gets recognized is that people identify and they become the emotion so they start we use language like I am angry I am sad I am guilt feeling guilty or I am very upset or I’m very emotional and as soon as you put something after the words I am which is very powerful words spiritually speaking you become what is after those words and so what happens with people is they get lost in a sea of emotion really struggle in that face and there’s lots of people who could report that experience because they’re now completely tied up in the emotion whereas the invitation here is to step back and see that there is a presence and awareness that is the witness to the arising of the emotion and is completely okay with the emotion it has no judgment about it and that awareness it turns out even if people can’t recognize this straight away is actually unaffected not only by the emotion by thoughts feelings sensations breath this awareness can report every phenomena going on in you and it just rests there neutrally silently non-judgmentally and that Annette and everybody listening is the essence of meditation and it’s also the essence of self-realization and when you can recognize that and it might take a little bit of practice at first but if you can open to the fact that oh there’s a thought thought wasn’t here thought dissolves or here’s an emotion just watch it and let it dissolve you’ll eventually see it become experiential that actually you are that witnessing presence and it’s always completely still silent non-judgmental and at peace and that’s how that process unfolds and that as I said is the essence of meditation the essence of self-realization and it’s also the key and as in the title of our discussion today the key to dissolving the emotional rollercoaster that most of us experience in our lives does that help it does and I find that a really insightful explanation so what I’m going to do is put myself in the firing line and say so I’m sat here today and I will just I will just because things do happen in all of our lives so I can say I’m sat here today something happened as an example at work this morning or in my relationship or with family and everything was nice and peaceful and then as you say bang up comes this emotion in response to situation that’s happened so typically in the west most of us would then go as you say get caught into the feeling of this emotion whether it’s labeled anger or frustration or whatever you’re caught up in that and you’re not able to make rational choices or conversation because it’s it’s the emotion that’s talking isn’t it rather than you as the person witnessing sort of taking a step back from it all and knowing you might need to deal with this situation but not in that state where everything’s churning up like a tsunami as you said so therefore then we’ve got to this point we’ve got this emotion coming up and we can feel that and there’s a situation that needs dealing with so where would they somebody listening be going from there how would they be then be dealing with that okay so the first thing to recognize is that see emotions get a bad press yeah okay you know that you get to use terms like negative emotions first thing we need to recognize is that we need to neutralize the language we use around it so an emotion is in emotion forget the word negative it is energy in motion e plus motion is emotion okay and energy has arisen now the reason that the emotion has arisen is because everybody because of this case of mistaken identity at all about which we’ll come on to more in a bit has basically developed what what is referred to in spiritual terms as the emotional body sometimes referred to as the pain body and the bit in you that’s getting triggered and that’s based on past events past traumas past conditioning that you’ve gone through the bit in you that’s getting triggered by an event is that emotional body and whoa suddenly the tsunami is here now i’ve already said key is to recognize that there’s a presence that watches this and if you associate with the emotion rather than the presence then you’re going to struggle but if you can remember and it’s going to take some practice that actually you are the witnessing presence this is a very important first step another part associated with that is as i pointed out taking away the label from the emotion it’s bad indifferent whatever it is being neutral about it the other important part here that i need to point out to people is this the emotion isn’t here as most people experience when you identify with us and to challenge you to beat your walk to say you’re struggling here’s a reframe a reset that is actually wholly more accurate is actually an invitation is an invitation to a deeper peace now the reason it’s an invitation is this emotional body that you’re carrying isn’t actually the essence of who you really are and when the trigger event occurs what it’s doing is the awareness with anything look a net in your because you used your own self as an example you’re still carrying this pain around in your emotional body here’s an opportunity an invitation to release it now when you see it that way you trust the power of witnessed scene no holds barred shall we say trust only the power of that witnessing presence then there’s only one thing that’s going to happen in the same way that a wave in always has to return to the ocean it can’t go anywhere else an emotion which is energy in motion remember as long as you don’t put any more thought energy input into it more belief energy input into it that wave will return to silence it’s a vibration and all vibrations return to silence and silence is like an ocean it’s an infinite field of energy that’s completely still so you recognize awareness you see it as an invitation you trust only awareness you face it you feel it without any judgment and only one thing will happen is that that emotion will dissolve not only will it dissolve and at first this is going to take a bit of practice and a bit of time not only will it dissolve using the power of this awareness it will actually resolve at a much deeper level than any thought process that you might have to try and calm yourself down and the reason for that is that it’s not the thoughts are bad or good or anything like that awareness this awareness is infinitely excuse me Roman is infinitely powerful this awareness and it is actually the essence of who you are so what’s happening is that as you’re putting no more energy input into the emotion it returns and is transmuted and dissolved by that awareness that’s what i call transmuting fear into love and that process is key to the dissolution of the emotional body it’s key to effective meditation it’s key to self-realization and it’s key to the realization of inner peace so that in itself that process how you’ve just explained it i mean i’ve been doing spiritual practice for years but the way you’ve explained it makes it so simple to somebody who might be a lay person if you like who’s never heard of anything like this before and they might be sat at home going wow what am i supposed to do with this emotion so what you’re saying is nothing essentially yeah leave it yeah because it feels like a process at first and you know it’ll take a bit of time for people to become kind of comfortable with that but once this becomes experiential you know it’s happened once and you thought oh wow then you build from there and you become much more effective and more practiced at it and that process then becomes simpler and you don’t get lost in that sea of emotion so much the other part of this is that it’s for this reason why a regular meditation practice and by meditation practice i mean awareness meditation not visualization not uh sort of picturing things and stuff like that just recognizing awareness with a regular meditation practice not only are you going to be calmer and still inside what you’re going to find is because you’re resting in awareness more and more frequently the trigger events can still arise but the impact of them on you will be less and less because you’ll be more anchored in that infinite ocean of awareness and so when it arises you know ah here’s another invitation bring it on kind of thing let me watch this let me feel this let me face this let me witness this because i know or it is known more accurately i am awareness and i’m always untouched unmoved unblemished awareness and that process becomes holy easier now i need to say here that if somebody’s in the midst of and they could this could be true for some of our listeners you know really serious you know emotional or mental health challenges then going straight from uh that space to this can be a real challenge because you can get so lost and that’s where other tools you know whether complementary therapies or other and there are many out there that are very beautiful can help you transition into a more awareness so it will depend on where you are in your journey but you know if generally speaking you know you’re relatively stable but trigger events occur from time to time then you’re going to be able to take this journey more easily but if you’re in a kind of lost space then using a number of tools and support mechanisms and professionals and so forth is going to bring you to a more stabilized place and then you’ll be able to embark on this and just to reinforce that a bit further you know the people that come to my events in that include psychiatrists psychotherapists yoga teachers meditation teachers therapists of all kinds and people from all walks of life but the reason i mentioned those ones i mentioned is that they are blown away by the power and simplicity of awareness they it’s like wow you know it’s like a big eye opener to them and and these people are witnessed massive transformations of people at events right in front of their very eyes and they often say to me what did you do and the true answer to that is nothing at all simply invited the individual concerned to be open to the power of this awareness and it’s useful at this point as well because you’ve just reinforced about if somebody’s in a stage in their life whether they’re mental health or or having other challenges that it’s not wise to just jump into this and to seek professional help going in between that transition is really possible and it’s interesting that you’ve got psychiatrists and psychotherapists who will have they’ve trained in their particular modality they’re finding maybe there’s something missing and then they’re coming to your your events and workshops which you’re you know i’d love for you to share so listeners can hear where they need to go do you know if they want to come on them and find out more so you’ve got that you’ve got that those mechanisms in place but the one thing i would i would ask because i’m i’m the guinea pig here because there’s nobody here but you and i so it’s an ex sat here she’s got that emotion so just so i can we can take we can put an end not an end but give people what what would they need to do next we’ve curated that space about the awareness and the witness and the the emotion will will go it will go back to its its natural state you know into the energy what happens with the situation that person’s in are they waiting until that emotion has has dissipated rather than firing off on all cylinders and standing back and looking rationally at it or is it a case of once that emotions disappeared because it was a triggering event we don’t need to deal with it just so it leaves people with clarity sure okay so let’s just use you as an example let’s just imagine imagine you’ve got an emotion here okay okay so even if you haven’t let’s just assume that you have yeah so the first thing is i’m going to say to you is okay so that has arisen on a few moments ago the emotion was not there and now it is can you just allow that to be there yeah just allow it yeah don’t fight it don’t resist it don’t judge it as good bad or indifferent it’s just there and can you recognize that a few months ago the emotion wasn’t there yes and now it’s here yes so our question is what was it that recognized that and he’s noticing it so i can feel that because it’s something i have done i can i won’t be able to feel that emotion right in my midriff right so feel that emotion there and for um for the benefit of our listeners the answer to the question what is it that sees it it’s awareness can you recognize or be open to the possibility that there’s a presence and awareness that is just simply watching does that sound okay for you yeah yeah it does yeah so just watch don’t do anything else just watch take away all the labels around whatever this is in your midriff and just let it be felt don’t run away from it don’t fight it don’t try and analyze it just watch and trust only the awareness just only the awareness knowing that this awareness is completely utterly unmoved untouched non-judgmental a pure essence that’s completely okay with whatever’s here and the whatever this feeling is this emotion in the midriff area he’s just being watched and not only that it’s actually what’s actually happening is that he’s been touched embraced by the power of this awareness from the inside and it’s almost like it’s being infused or marinating in that awareness that silent awareness the infinite silence as i sometimes call it and effortlessly without any effort on your part that’s transforming transmuting dissolving that emotion or that whatever’s here and you’re all of this has just been allowed to happen and can you be okay with that yeah yeah yeah i can good so just watching just think if you’re like almost getting on with your life you just here still trusting only the awareness is there anything happening with that in your midriff area there’s almost um i can feel a different a change a different energy coming through so can you just allow that to happen as well yeah without any judgment yeah that different energy coming through that’s also being watched and touched and we’re not going to judge that or try to analyze that in any way we’re just allowing watching feeling facing how does that how is that for you it feels in a strange way quite calming because i feel part of it that we’re together that i’m not pushing it away and i’m not frightened of it i’m not as you said resisting it in any way now it’s just being there just living being good so if you calm with it just even the calmness is noticed even the calmness is noticed so we’ll be completely okay with that and just continue to allow and continue to watch and you’re probably going to see as you continue to trust this awareness more changes taking place maybe the sensation slightly different or maybe it completely dissolves who knows maybe some insight will come up some clarity just trusting just watching no analysis completely okay and this this is the how-to and what happens and we’ll check in with you in a moment typically is when i guide people through this and you know sometimes i might get more feedback from them as to what’s going on and it might change shape form intensity a few times often sadness will come up towards the end and when sadness appears that’s also an emotion i often say great and that might seem like a strange thing for me to say to people and the reason i say great is that what i’ve noticed over sharing this over many many years now is that once sadness is there it turns out sadness is a letting go energy and once that sadness dissolves people tend to start to feel peace they don’t it doesn’t it isn’t necessary for sadness to always arise sometimes sometimes it just goes straight to calmness or peace or stillness but that’s also witnessed and then also dissolved and sometimes you know if i’m doing an event i’ll just say to people well just we’ll just carry on but you’re just going to continue watching allowing feeling facing and we’re going to check in with you in 10 minutes time how are you at the moment feels um not as strong as it did before as it was earlier when we were first talking definitely um there isn’t that you know using the word there isn’t that sadness there’s more of a this mixture of excitement and other emotions going on so there’s like a few things going on at once okay so let’s continue with the exploration in this interview and throughout that process you’re just going to completely trust now aware and you’re going to let that work in the background okay and if you want to ask some more questions then we’ll see where we are in let’s say in you know sort of five minutes time okay okay so i do have another question i think this is so useful to do for people because they can actually experience with what happens yeah and it’s useful if there’s anything specific that you wanted to go into if you haven’t i do have another question so i’ll be guided by you where you want to be at this time i can’t believe we’re 44 minutes into it already no you go with your question okay so something else i read as well with interest um and i think you commented on on a friend of mine on linkedin and it was to do with cancer yeah and something i’ve read about about you had a story about a friend what was it 75 millimeter by 25 millimeter tumor that was dissolved in a very short space after she felt called to connect with you about it are you able to share any of that with us because that in itself is uh it’s almost it sounds miraculous doesn’t it yeah it does and it was and it is sorry about for the listeners of people i’ll give it very briefly here now the full story of that is on the website it’s in the blog section and it’s called from messenger cancerous tumor to embracing a deeper awareness i think it’s called something like that from messenger cancerous tumor to embracing a deeper awareness the brief the summary of that story um is that the lady concerned uh who became a friend uh who met in crete some about a year or two before this event happened where she felt a very clear calling to contact with me we had um two sessions over skype using essentially the same process i’ve just described to you we’ve been doing for you there a little bit more detail in terms of her exploring looking from the inside is to into what this tumor in her body was communicating and you know insights emotions tears and so forth were coming up in that process and in this particular case it related to a childhood experience and through two two maybe just under an hour long scrap sessions in the first one i noticed one shift had taken place and she felt called to have a second session and in that second session she suddenly through that same process i was using through with a little bit more guidance than i was doing for you because there was a lot of emotion and so i needed to guide her calmly through that to face it feel it and trust the awareness she noticed something had completely left her body in that and i noticed it too there was a very noticeable point in that journey of those two skype sessions and i knew something significant of happiness so let’s just see where that goes and actually turned out and this happens from time to time not every time that night i had in meditation i was shown a clear vision an experiential vision of that tumor being if you like lasered from the inside and she was due a scan i’m not sure whether it was an MRI scan but anyway a scan i said well let’s just see what that shows and to the oncologist’s absolute amazement it had completely dissolved like gone nothing nothing nothing there’s a bit more to the story than we’ve got time for today but in essence that’s the process and what i was guiding you through that was the same that i guided her through but in more depth and there was a lot more emotion associated with it but basically that was it and it went and basically the dissolving of the tumor obviously seems miraculous and it is but the important point she ended up writing this up and i added some pieces to it she felt cold to write it up and i added some pieces to it the important point here although the dissolution of the tumor is obviously profound for her for her life and all the rest of it the big thing that happened there which is much bigger even than the dissolution of the tumor is a shift in consciousness a shift in awareness suddenly all that was associated with that tumor had been dissolved and that meant a deeper shift into awareness and consciousness and silence and that led to a consequential effect in the body of the tumor the tumor dissolving so for people who want to explore that fully go to my website and they’ll look it up on the basis of what i said you can see the full story but that is the shift in consciousness that’s important the body will follow and when you speak about consciousness you talk in consciousness from the heart or so consciousness is basically a simple term definition of consciousness is energy aware of itself now remember when i spoke about earlier the essence of meditation is awareness so that awareness is the same awareness and that awareness actually turns out to be universal so consciousness is aware awareness basically and it’s aware of itself as awareness and it manifests in your body in my body this earth that we’re all living on the stars the planets all of it stems from this infinite field of awareness that’s what consciousness is and as you deepen into higher experience of consciousness you become more and more recognizing that yes this body you have this body you call it a net mine’s called phillip well it’s like a car that you have your body is like a vehicle of consciousness but you’re not the body and the case of mistaken identity in the title here is to think and believe that all you are is your body mind and your body mind is a beautiful gift it’s a vehicle through which life experiences itself through you but you’re not the car you are the awareness behind it the power that drives the car makes sense it does and before i forget because everything is so insightful and i want to know more i just wanted to remind us to share your details about your events and things if you wanted to do feels um much milder than it did earlier much milder yeah there’s almost instead of it being i think nobody described for the listeners instead of there being like a big ball there it seems to have halved so there’s less good so the key now is so that’s reducing dissolving you continue to trust awareness and see what happens you don’t need to analyze it think about it just let awareness do the work and we can continue with the interview okay so the next thing i wanted to ask about is about energy alignment so in terms of and i know we had a conversation about this um a week or so ago we were talking about how um whether it be a relationship at work or it could be anything couldn’t it could be a life-changing career or something about where the energies align so no one of the things we touched on um and because my one of my passions is about women in relationships that have been um compromising and things yeah you talking about i think the energy in this particular instance this woman so we’re subject here we just kind of met this up subject here she’s in she’s in relationships and things are always rocky and she seems to be going from one bad relationship to the next and i’ve had this experience with women and they always say what is it i’ve done wrong why am i so they’re in the victim mode yeah so how would you how would you explain that or deal with that using this particular yeah example yeah yeah okay so you know many people experience difficulties in relationships don’t they um it can be particularly difficult um when you’re a woman obviously because um you know challenging uh relationships abusive relationships and so forth um what’s important to understand here from a self-realization perspective apart from all the other stuff at the challenges and so forth that go on in that and they’re profound and there’s huge compassion for people in those situations it really can be profoundly difficult even you know physically uh challenging and all sorts of abuse can happen but if we can understand briefly why why does that happen in the first place for anybody now and all of that comes about spiritually speaking is that basically you’re born into this life you go through a set of conditioning you’re taught to believe that all you are is this body mind you have traumatic experiences as a child those things don’t get dealt with the emotional body gets built up there’s all sorts of self-worth type issues that um low self-worth issues that come up and you’re kind of living in this vibration of uh um low self-worth low self-esteem and one of the consequences of that is that we’re absolutely not condoning abusive relationship and abusive behavior this is this is something that everybody has a choice about is but you can start to find yourself in more and more um situations that are challenging whether it be in your family whether it be in your personal uh intimate relationships or relationships at work it’s almost like you it seems it seems like you’re attracting more and more of this stuff part of the reason that happens and as I say we’re not condoning the behavior of others that’s completely inappropriate things do is that it’s almost like you you attract more and more of this now the route out of this apart from maybe physically getting yourself out of such a situation is particularly if you’re in an abusive relationship and that may be easier said than done I understand that completely um it may be that leaving a relationship behind is the right thing part of the journey and key to the journey and key to that not happening again in the future is to recognize that you are more than this body mind and that you are in fact this awareness and if you start to get free it’s going to need some help at first external help as I talked about earlier but the more that you embrace meditation the more that you embrace awareness the more that you start to dissolve the emotional body the better choices you’re going to start making in your life you’re going to start coming to clarity about what your heart’s leading you to rather than your head and you’re going to start gradually dropping all the baggage in your life now obviously if one’s in the midst of an abusive relationship perhaps you’re going to have to step find ways and get help and support to step out of that at first and there are many ways that that might happen well from a purely spiritual perspective the key is to recognize this infinite power of awareness within you and to start embracing that and that’s a journey and that can take some years that’s a brief answer it’s a long subject a big subject yeah and it’s yeah and that’s one of those and I keep saying it don’t feel it we need more than an hour we need more than an hour we’ve got about two minutes left so we can’t cover that um the so I one of my questions to you then is so you’re you’ve been on this journey for some time now so how so in your life your life has changed as a result of this you know from when we first met all those years ago and you are now you know holding these retreats these workshops is it something that you manifested by a vision yourself or was it something that you felt and just kind of happened as you were going along doing they you know doing what you’re doing and working with people do you still have goals and aspirations or is everything coming from within now 59 we’ve got one minute left basically the short answer to that is I followed my heart and um and that is about recognizing the inspiration and the expansiveness and trusting that so basically that’s what what I do and what I still do to this day is following my heart that’s a whole other subject another interview really it certainly is and so it will just leave me on this
