RUSS KANE – IN CONVERSATION WITH... This is a show that attempts to wade through the uncharted, often turbulent, waters of what it’s like to be male in 2018. The theme is to see how we, as a male, can give more support, understanding and encouragement in this complex thing we call life – to get a clearer picture, from a female perspective, for the men of the world . It will be funny, sad, inspiring, uplifting and every emotion in between. In a series of one-to-one shows, Russ’s guests will talk openly and frankly. How do women see us? What obstacles have they encountered? It may well be controversial as Russ explores the good, the bad and the downright ugly. Informative, intimate, inspiring and, above all, highly entertaining. Russ will be the first man on a women’s radio station – as the Chinese say, ‘we live in interesting times’.
Margaret was born in London of Irish parents, ‘I grew up loving and understanding the importance of family and friends’. This love of people and different cultures drew her into acting and as an actress and dancer she travelled all over the world. ‘Theatre I believe is in your blood, whether you experience it through story telling, as is common in the Irish tradition, or through stepping on stage, it never leaves you. I will always be interested in people and telling their stories.’ Margaret’s academic career kicked off when she was 37 at Reading University with a BA in Film & Drama. ‘I was then called to teach as I wanted a life where I could experience contribution and growth on a daily basis. Teaching fulfils my need to contribute and I love being able to help people find their path, and their voice!’ From her time in Las Vegas to England's National Theatre, with a spell in the corporate world, Margaret is living proof that life is a wonderful tapestry of opportunities waiting to show up when you are ready and open to receive them. Margaret is very excited to bring her radio show, Fit, Fabulous & 50+ to an audience that are vibrant, sexy and sassy enough to have their say, say their piece and find their voice. My blog is about us women who are 50+ but unwilling to settle for the glib stereotyping inundating us by the media. If we have poor opinions of ourselves, and let's be honest that is encouraged by most advertising companies who want us to compare ourselves to each other, to billboards, and to a fantasy that is not only unattainable but non representative of a huge demographic, then we need to take our power back. Back from the advertisers, public opinion, and unrealistic expectations of ourselves and each other. FIT, FABULOUS & 50+ is a platform to gather women together to reclaim our power, support each other and address the inequality that is rife, yes rife in the current social climate!

Anna’s two sons, Patrick, 25 and Angelo, 22, were both diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders as young children. The severity of their conditions meant that they were turned away from 26 local mainstream schools, as they couldn’t cater for their individual needs. Both boys were finally offered just five hours of home tuition per week. Anna decided something had to be done for her boys, and with the help of her husband Sean, took on the challenge setting up a school themselves. They relentlessly fundraised and re-mortgaged their home to raise £627,000 needed, and in 1999 The Hillingdon Manor School finally opened its doors. Starting out with 19 pupils the school now teaches 150, and is the largest school of its kind for autistic children in Europe. Anna has since set up another specialist school, an autism awareness charity and a respite home for adults. She provided training for the NSPCC and Childline and also runs various other fundraising and awareness events throughout the year.
