Main Topics
HuBreath is a breathwork-based wellness program offering retreats worldwide that combines breathwork, movement, mindset work, and natural supplements to support menopausal women
Chronic stress and elevated cortisol levels are major contributors to menopause symptoms; breathwork can naturally regulate cortisol through techniques that activate the parasympathetic nervous system
Two primary breathing techniques discussed: Inner Fire (energizing, more oxygen in/less CO2 out) and Rest and Digest (calming, less oxygen in/more CO2 out) that can be tailored to individual needs
The autonomic nervous system can be biohacked through specific breathwork practices including breath retention to trigger DMT release instead of cortisol
HuBreath retreat demographics range from age 20 to 72, with particular focus on women aged 40-55 experiencing perimenopause or menopause
Natural approaches to menopause management—including breathwork, herbs, supplements, and lifestyle changes—offer viable alternatives for women who cannot or choose not to take HRT
Women face unique physiological and social pressures during midlife, from hormonal changes to underappreciated caregiving responsibilities that contribute to stress and health challenges

Hi, this is Sue Moxley and this is Women's Radio Station. This is my show, The Menopause Show. You can catch us on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, Women's Radio Station, abbreviated STN. So today I've got a good friend of mine, Chico Slimani, and his partner Sarah Sloan. Hi! Hi, how are you? Oh, really good, Chico. It's been a long time since we had a chat. Too long. How is life? How is David? Yeah, he's fine. We've been married, oh, 14 years. Can you believe that? Wow, that's amazing. Congratulations, darling. Thank you. And your lovely wife? Yeah, she's here. She's all good. We're all good. We're 19 years and counting. Wow, you're beating me. And I saw your gorgeous daughter singing on YouTube, and she's got an amazing voice, and she's stunning. Thank you. Yeah, um, she's, uh, she looks like her mom. So what it is, is you have, uh, retreats that you organize, is that correct? That is correct. They're called Hu Breath Retreat, hu-breath.com. Yeah. And we, um, are doing this all around the world. So I started Hu Breath around, well, just before the pandemic or just during, and then, but the actual retreat started a year before in the Atlas Mountains, which is where I'm from. Right. And we've just expanded from the Atlas Mountains to Portugal, to Croatia, and now we're just adding Thailand, Machu Picchu, and Bali. And we've just had this incredible success regarding healing in all dimensions. And of course, I met Sarah, who actually came to one of my retreats, and she's an expert in the menopause field. And as a matter of fact, my wife is going through menopause, so I know it very, very well from an experiential point of view. I give you some advice, Chico. Just agree with everything that they say. Oh, absolutely, yes. And I think the clue's in the name— Man on Pause. Exactly. So you're learning anyway. I'm glad to know that you're educated. But absolutely, I think you have to get to that stage where you've got to know when to say yes and when to say yes. God, you're right. You're so right. So, um, so do I— I expect you get quite a lot of menopausal women on your retreats, do you? Yeah, we do. I mean, the demographics, uh, like with, with, with Sarah, again, she's the expert in this field, and we, um, we, um, collaborated and going to collaborate some more. Um, the demographics that we have is actually from about 20 years old to 67 years old, to 72 as a matter of fact. But I do get a lot of women sort of either premenopausal or just going into menopause. And that is normally between 40 and sort of 55. That's kind of the demographics. And yeah, they've had amazing, amazing discoveries, if you will. And we just kind of teach them. There's a lot to, to go into menopause, you know. Is not one size fits all. However, we do know that there is certain things that you can do, especially naturally. I mean, you can go down the route of, what do you call it, HR and— yeah, HRT or HRT and all of that natural supplements, which I think your, your partner Sarah has got, hasn't she? She's got supplements. So, so Sarah is, like I said, she's an expert in this field. She's got her own supplements and we like to do things the easy way and also the healthy way. And by that, by that, I mean the natural way. Yeah. Because there is so much that you can actually do from, you know, mindset, from movement, the breathwork that we offer, excursions, and, you know, natural herbs and remedies that basically can alleviate the symptoms in such a way that it becomes totally manageable. And by becoming aware and integrating all the teachings that we give you in the, the retreat, as well as all the supplements, as well as what to do, when to take it, how to do it, it really is a game changer. Okay. I mean, it sounds so interesting. There are so many women that they, you know, I actually got a bioidentical clinic now, but there are so many women that, A, they can't take HRT you know, they may have cancer in their history or— yes, something like that, or they don't want to take HRT. So we're always looking for, you know, natural remedies. And when I saw that you did, you did the retreats and that you went healing in a natural way, I thought, yeah, this is an amazing thing. So can you, can you explain what HuBreath is to people that don't really know? So yeah, so Who Breath? Basically it was developed after my original wellbeing or fitness brand, which was called BlockFit, and that was dance, combat, HIIT, yoga, meditation. I trained over 750 instructors to teach my brand. We were in every Duncan Benetton gym, etc. Then what had happened is just before COVID happened, I was all— I was already kind of going into the breathwork, which was really the last part of what I did in BlockFit. And it just— the changes were amazing because people, when I was doing testimonials, asking people how they felt and which part did they like, they all said, you know, they feel energized, they feel just full of positivity. But at the end, at the same time, it's that relaxation part where I take them into what I may call your happy place or your true nature place, which is beyond the ego body mind. And this is when people were like, Oh my God, I love that guided meditation and that breathwork. But we did it on a smaller scale. So I kind of got into it big time. And then I found the benefits that one can get through breathwork if you actually learn how to do it properly. Because we've got the— we were kind of being told that we couldn't buy our hack. The autonomic system. Autonomic means everything that happens without you being involved, i.e., your heartbeats, your breath, your lungs. Autonomic, something that moves by itself. So what happened is through breathwork, we found scientifically now that we can biohack the primordial brain, which means we are in constant fight or flight. And back in the hunter-gatherer days, most people were scared of a saber-toothed tiger or just danger. But now that hasn't changed. It's just we got more of it because then it was just survival. It was just a fear of not being eaten and the fear of actually providing enough to eat for that one day. Whereas now we wake up, we got to go get to work in time. We've got mortgages, families, especially for women. Hardest job in the world and definitely the most underappreciated job in the world. And so what— so what— no, honestly, it's a fact. And this is— I mean, sometimes I look at men and I think, you have no idea. You have no idea what women have to go through, not only their hormones and bodies and whatnot, but what they have to sacrifice, especially for the family and especially for a stay-in mom. Um, actually, you know, go, what do you do? I'm a stay-in mum. Well, actually, it's been calculated that if the mum actually charged for everything that she does as a wife and a mum, i.e., cook, clean, being a therapist, being a doctor, being a nurse, being a psychologist, yeah, and, and still trying to be your lover, you know, and all of that, you know, that's calculated about £280,000 a year. Well, not even— it's my job, you know. To that. Exactly. And so I appreciate, you know, the fairer sex and what you have to go through is immense and intense. And that's why we bring in this breathwork because what happens just to get back to the fight or flight is normally when we're in this fight or flight, we're bombarded left, right, and center. And our primordial brain, we've got a reptile, what we'll call a reptilian brain or the amygdala, which is our emotional center, right in, it's like a little pea size. And that emotional center starts when we're in the fight or flight, starts to excrete cortisol. And cortisol is the— it's the poison that attacks the body, mind, body, soul. It literally is a poison that goes and attacks all the other cells. And when we do it over time, it becomes chronic stress. And that's what happens in a lot of, uh, women who go into menopause. So what happens when we do the breathwork, especially when we breathe and we do something called the breath retention, when you hold your breath, which is actually intermittent hypoxia, that's when we trick the brain to release DMT as opposed to cortisol. So DMT, we are born with this. We only experience it twice in our lives, when you're born as a baby and when you're having a near-death experience and you are transcending to another realm. And that's when you see like that tunnel of light and then the whiteness and the love and all of that. So basically we induce the body to release these chemicals naturally. And what that does is it sends a message to all your cells, well actually to your stem cells, which are the building block of everything else. And it just basically aligns them and will also sets new neural pathways in your brain. These are the new transmitters that— sorry, the transmitters in your brain to basically not only send signals to every part of your body mentally, physically, and spiritually, it basically aligns every part of you to work in perfect alignment, therefore in harmony, therefore not in dis-ease, therefore not creating the disease. And that disease could be all the symptoms that most women get in, and men, in their sort of mid-age. Well, Chika, that's so interesting because I myself and quite a few people recently that we've done a hormone test with, their cortisol levels are either flatlined or they're really, really high. And, you know, there isn't actually a hormone that you can take for that. I mean, there are supplements, etc., but what you're saying is that if you could learn this breathing technique, um, you can bring it down by yourself. Oh, completely. Because the breathwork, you see, what it is, is, is it's— I call it your doctor, your therapist, and your spiritual master all in one. It gives you exactly what you need. And what happens is we've got key parts in the body. One is the sympathetic, uh, and the other is the parasympathetic. Now the sympathetic is our fight or flight. So whenever you're in that situation, you— the adrenaline is released and you are ready to either fight or fly. Whereas the parasympathetic is our cooling system, if you will, and that is called the rest and digest. And we also have something else called the Hu breath balance. And that is— so just to give you the basic breathwork, which is, um, the first one is called the inner fire, or rohkutsya. And this is basically when we take a lot— with more oxygen in and we breathe out less carbon dioxide. This is the equivalent to having a double espresso, basically. It gives you that energy and pow. And then the balance So this one would be like breathing in through the nose for 4 counts and breathing out through the mouth for 2 counts. Now, the Hu breath balance is you balance out your whole system, the left and the right, the left hemisphere of your brain and the right hemisphere of your brain, as well as stimulate the vagus nerve nervous system. And so what happens there, this is like just to bring everything into balance. And then you go into the rest and digest. And that is the opposite to the inner fire, which is taking in less oxygen. So we're We go 1, 2, and we breathe out 1, 2, 3, 4. Now this is normally the one that really kind of takes you to that space and place of peace, bliss, and harmony within yourself. Okay. So, and that really works amazing. And of course we've got different modalities as well that we can, you know, we introduce people to after we've introduced them to these different breathing techniques. And it's like, say for instance, if, For a quieter person that needs energy, that feels lethargic, which obviously menopause is one of those symptoms, if you're feeling that, then obviously you do the Inner Fire. It gives you that energy. But if you're agitated and you just wanna bite people's heads off and you're a P-M-T on steroids, then I would suggest the other one because that just keeps you calm, keeps, it just regulates and brings that equilibrium into your life to be able to go, okay, Yeah, okay. So if people say they can't make one of your retreats, do you have, um, another— do you have classes or online things that you do to, to teach breathing? Yes, what I'm actually— what I've been doing, and this is a question that's been coming up a lot, and that is, um, Chico, if you can't make, uh, you know, one of these amazing, uh, places, yeah, is there anything in the UK? So what I'm actually going to be doing now is I'm going to set up a weekend Hu Breath retreat. Sarah would be involved in this. And we want to actually just do one as well, just for women in menopause. And we do a whole— so they arrive Friday late afternoon. We do an opening circle. And again, this would be in a place we've got— you're going to have amazing cuisine and different workshops. And those workshops will go from fitness to yoga to breath movement to inner child work to a positive mindset. And of course, Sarah does her workshops, especially for menopause, the natural substances to take, how to act in certain situations and stuff like that. And we give you all of those tools basically. And we end it, of course, with a lovely Kakao ceremony and a fire ceremony. And we also get you to understand your why. Your strengths and your weaknesses and things to eliminate, minimize, delegate, uh, and maximize. So we kind of give you those tools for you to be able to go, okay, this is a complete reset and I can start to integrate these teachings into my everyday life. And within a few weeks' time, it just feels like, oh, why didn't I do this before? But again, it's just a pointing to your own truth. It's a pointing to what you already know, but mostly Uh, it's more about integrating, uh, the everyday habits that, that, that, that can free you from the shackles of slavery, if you will. Yes, Chico, but say that someone actually cannot get to your event even in England. Yeah. Yes. Are you— do you not have like online teachings or videos? Do you know what? I, I have created the Hubreth 40-Day Life Transformation. And we will be launching that literally in the next couple of weeks. It's just that I've been so inundated with work. So it's the first time that I actually had to come to the UK and I'm here for my panto. And then at the same time, obviously creating things for different people, the people that can attend live, the people that can attend in the UK and the ones that can't is going to be online. So people will be able to access it. That would be fantastic because then you can like reach many, many more people, can't you? Yeah, absolutely. I have a question for you. Um, do you have— what I want to do actually, I want to do like a maybe even a day or maybe a, a day where it will just be for your audience. Yes. Um, you know, introduce them to a little bit of breathwork Yeah, you know, as well. Yeah. And then we can do like a, a couple of hours workshop for people to give them a little taster. Yeah. And then we go from there, just so they can actually get to understand what we offer. Because, um, this is very— I like it like this. People say, wow, we, we've seen your social media, we've seen all your testimonials, people are having life-changing experiences. 'How do we get involved?' And I'm like, 'Look, I can talk to you until I'm blue in the face or till the cows come home, but it's kind of like when you walk into a restaurant and someone offers you a menu, it might delight your heart, but until you eat the food, you will never know.' So for me, I'd love to be able to just give people like a half an hour breathing experience for them to kind of really understand what it's like. And then we go, and then we can set up a day where we can— I mean, how many, how many people do you have on your listenership or your data ship? Oh, hundreds of women. Right. So, you know, we could— you're definitely right, we could organize a day, maybe, you know, near London or something. That'll be great. And get, um, and I could organize that and get you to come along, um, Yeah, go through, go through a few hours with the women. Yeah. Hey Sarah, hello my darling. Hi. Hello, I am here, I'm just listening. Oh, I want you to join in sweetheart, I want you to join in. Okay. So yeah, uh, Sue, so Sarah, like I said, she's an expert in her field, she's one of life's most beautiful souls, and all she does is just tries to help. So I'm going to pass on over to you to talk a little bit about the, the basics of menopause and the things that she does and the things that we'll be offering you as well on the workshop. Yes, Sarah, tell us about— yeah, tell us about what you're actually— your part of it is. And also, I understand you've got some, some great supplements out as well. So yes, well, I started having these horrible symptoms too and they call it in my case ovarian failure because I'm not the usual age for menopause. So that was my incentive to create all my own nutraceuticals, which are minerals, herbs, and vitamins all together, but in a food-like form, in capsules, just to, to help with all these things. And I also started my business over the COVID time. So I created a supplement specifically called MenoBalance, which just takes away all the horrid symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, stabilizes the mood, and yeah, just helps create balance. And I also created another one called Brain Booster, which just helps with your concentration, focuses your thoughts, because obviously women experience a lot of brain fog around this time. And then a supplement called Blissful Sleep. That sounds perfect, the, um, the actual supplements that she has, Sarah. Um, we've lost her for a minute, so maybe she'll come back in a sec. Um, so yeah, carry on telling me, can it help with things— your— this breathing technique, can it help with things like anxiety attacks? Yes, completely. It's, it's perfect for anxiety attacks and panic attacks. Do you know? Okay, well, what I'm going to do, I should have sent this to you before, but after this, I'm going to send you a little 15-minute breathing technique and I want you to do it and see how you feel because it's just such a game changer because when you do it, you, I mean, people sometimes have an out-of-body experience or I tell you what it is, it's we, the anxiety and panic attacks and all of that, it's attached to our monkey brain. The monkey brain is our ego or the identity. And what happens with the breathwork is we basically chain this monkey. We literally, it's like a Muhammad Ali sucker punch. It never sees it coming. So it basically takes a back seat. And what happens is what comes in the front seat is who you really are, your spirit or your soul or the energy force or the life force. You basically, basically everything that we do and experience it's kind of attached to that identity. And when we kind of just step back and become the observer of that, because what happens when the breathwork is doing that, it literally just puts it in prison and it makes it completely mute. So now what's speaking is your heart, soul, essence. And you're like, oh wow, this is a lot easier than I thought. And why didn't I do it before? And honestly, it is literally getting high in your own supply direction, Sky. It is absolutely so profound. And what it does, it alkalizes the body. Uh, it's— and, and the body— and nothing, no disease can live in an alkalized body. What it also does is, as I said, it sends all of those amazing, uh, um, hormones— not hormones, sorry, chemicals in the brain to set about a healing. And it also What it also does is it, when we're doing the breathing technique, I always say to people like we have the philosophy of surrender, humility, self-love, and gratitude. And I say, look, just surrender to whatever's going to arise. And whatever arises, I said, don't act. Just allow it to come. And I said, then what happens is this energy is going to go off. And you might feel it tingling, or you might feel a hotness in a place, say for instance, that, that is, that needs healing. So a lot of people say to me, oh my God, it went straight to my knee and I felt this real warmth. And I go, okay, so you got something wrong with the knee? They go, yeah, I've got this and this and this wrong with it. Or it could go to the head, or it could go anywhere. As a matter of fact, we've had a, a lady who came and it kept on going to left-hand side of her stomach. And I said, is there anything wrong with you? And she said, I don't know, not as far as I know. Anyway, when she finished and came back to the UK, I said, please just go and get it checked, just in case. And it was first stage, I think, lung cancer or something like that. So it actually picked it up. It picked up that there was something going on. So again, This breathwork is the most untapped and underused remedy in existence. It really can help with so many things. And again, this is all to do with our fight or flight. And when we're releasing untold amounts of cortisol, it becomes chronic stress. So we manage that by harmonizing everything. Therefore, everything just falls into place. Where does this Where did this originate, this breathwork? Or is it your— Is it your finding? Yes. So this is my particular, well, I say creation. Yeah. It's, there's no, you know, for me, there's nothing new under the sun. So breathwork really comes, has been here from eons of times, from the shamans and the rishis and the masters that have come you know, to teach us the way basically. And every belief system from the outside, you've got the dogma, but this is what I call Godma. This is going in inside. And you know, no one can lay claimership to breath. You can't say, oh, this is a Christian breath or a Muslim breath or a French breath or Italian breath. It's just breath. Okay. Right? And the who is the smallest sound in existence. So we, people do it, are connected to source creator, if you will, through breath. And the breath is Latin for spiritus. Spiritus is to breathe, is Latin for that. And without breath, the body is just really a cage. So it is the smallest sound. We do it through, ah, whoo, ah, whoo. When we breathe out, if we verbalize it, it becomes whoo. The animals do it through, ah, whoo. The animal or the nature releases carbon dioxide. It creates that sound. Also at a subatomic level, atoms, protons, electrons, photons, all of that, they move faster than the speed of light. Therefore, they create that sound of whoo. So there's nothing devoid of breath. Or even if you go into scripture, they used to say, in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. And so it's without it being dogmatic or religious, this is really the truest, purest form of what it is to be human. Because as I said, without the vital force, nothing will happen. But if you're looking at history, it comes from India, which is called pranayama. Again, it's a life force. And you've got the Tumo monks in the Himalayas where they can sit in minus 25 degrees and sweat because they've raised their body temperature to such a degree through breath, and it makes absolutely— It's amazing, isn't it? It's so amazing. But it is scientifically now proven that we can override all our physical limitations through breathwork that gives us transcendental experience, out-of-body experiences, or just blissed-out moments of, wow, I didn't know I could feel like this. And you feel so different to what you would normally, but in truth, that's how you should feel normally. And by doing it every day and practicing it in as little as 10-minute breathwork a day, it will seriously change your life. Do you do it every day, Chico? I try to do it every day. Sometimes I don't, only because of the— how busy you are. But I always, always, even— we created different modalities and people used to say to me, look, Tico, if we can't do 20 minutes or half an hour, can you give us something that we can just do, boom, straight away? So I'll create something, the Hu Breath Express, and that is what we call the DMT psychedelic experience. And we've had many, many experiences with the ladies only, of course, that have had what we call divine orgasmic bliss. Wow. And that is really some Harry Met Sally moments. Really unbelievable. Happened at your retreats? Is it— it's happened, uh, over 20 retreats, it's happened about 4 times. Yeah. And it was really like, wow. I mean, it wasn't designed for that. However, that's the experience that some of the ladies have. Yeah. Yeah, that's amazing. Right, they need to come along to the retreat. No expectations. I've really set the bar high there. Yeah, are you, are you back, Sarah? Yes, yes, I'm back. Okay, tell us about your supplements and how you, why you got involved with Chico. Um, I met Chico and we got on like a house on fire, and I loved his energy, and I love what he shares with the world because he just uplifts people and helps them back to wellness, spiritual health, um, which is the ultimate, and then obviously physicality. So I went along to the Croatian retreat, which was heaven on earth, so magnificent. I saw a picture of it, it looked absolutely stunning there. Yeah, absolutely. It almost feels otherworldly because it's so beautiful. But the Hubre is very powerful, like TK says, and it's such a powerful tool because it puts you into your parasympathetic nervous system, which is so important. I find with life, life is so yang, so active, whereas we are, you know, especially in a menopausal time, we need to become far more yin because it just takes away the cortisol, which obviously, you know, really stresses the body out. Totally. I know all about it. So the breath is— the Hu breath is really powerful. It's life-changing and it can completely transform you. And like Chico said, it balances you out, puts you into your parasympathetic nervous system, and just allows you to think clearly. It's really helpful for that. It sounds great for menopausal women because sometimes they don't know what else to turn to. We've got it all here and we've got, like I said earlier on, we've got different modalities and we've got different breathing techniques for different things. As I said, there's the one that gives you that energy and makes you feel great if you're fatigued and lethargic and whatnot. And then we've also got different breathing techniques that just kind of make you defogify, if there is such a word, defogify Your brain. There is a word now, defogify. That'll be in the English dictionary soon. Yeah, Chicoisms. But, uh, you know, and, and the beautiful thing about all of this is Sarah comes from that, you know, not only does she do this, she, you know, done nutrition and done everything else. So she, she talks about all of that because it's, it's not just, you know, if we're talking about it's an alphabet and there is different things that you do for different things and you bring them all together and that helps the whole healing. So, you know, like I said, the breath is very, very powerful alone, but when you mix it with good food, the right nutrients, the healthy nutrients, and to give you an alternative that you, that you will not have any side effects from is the main thing. And then, and you know, nature, there is nothing in nature that does not— there is no disease that's been created that nature hasn't got a cure for. So that was my incentive to create my nutraceuticals, especially MenoBalance, because it's filled with soya isoflavones and phytoestrogens, which have now become a natural intervention to support women's health. And phytoestrogenic compounds mimic estrogen in the body. So as we know, when we go through menopause, obviously our estrogen levels really drop, and as well as our progesterone, and this allows for, you know, a poorer mood and lack of libido and restless sleep, etc., etc. So, um, how long do you have to take them for before they start to work? Well, we're all completely unique. In my, when I started taking them, they worked within 2 days. Okay, it might have been. Yeah, so I was very happy about that and it just took away all the horrid symptoms, like, yeah, just helped me adapt better because it's quite a shock to the system. I find a lot of women don't know what's happening to them and then eventually, you know, often healthcare advisors oversee the problem and they see it as depression Often it's quite misdiagnosed, which is really unfortunate. But once women understand, then they can really get on top of it. And of course, it's a whole harmony of breathwork, gentle yin exercises, walking is also wonderful, just exercises that are quite gentle on the body, and it's a transformation of life completely. You literally turn into a butterfly at this phase of your life. So you've just got to nourish yourself with good nutrition, get good sleep, gentle exercise, good breathwork, and then everything, everything's quite easy to manage. Okay, yeah, absolutely. Were you young when you went into your menopause then? Yes, really young. So that was why it was a bit of a shocker. Yeah, but I, I manage it really well and life is good. Um, yeah, I was just gonna say as well, um, Sarah does, uh, something called bioresonance machines which are just fantastic. So when people, uh, come, um, she puts them on these machines which she's going to tell you about, but basically these machines pretty much scan your body completely from top to bottom, and it tells you what's going on in your body. Yeah, so it's a very helpful tool. So it scans all the systems of the body, and it works with bioresonance. So what it does is it vibrates off the resonation of your cells, and it can give a very clear layout of what you may be deficient in. So it looks into all the separate systems of the body, and it's a very efficient way to, to find out what's the underlying imbalances may be. Many— there are many kind of bioresonance machines on the market. Some of them work with headphones. Mine works with a probe that you hold, and it just takes the energetic pulse. Um, by holding it, and then it, yeah, it downloads you from head to toe. Yeah, it's quite brilliant. What is the brand name of the supplement, Sarah? It's Sloan's Health. Sloan's Health, like Sloan Square website? Yes. What is that? It's www.sloanshealth.com. Okay, okay. So anyone that's listening, they know where to, to go and read about your supplements and what they do, etc. Yes, I make 3 specifically for menopause, okay? MenoBalance, the Brain Booster, and Blissful Sleep. Uh, and you know, I can vouch for that because, uh, Sarah, um, really helped my wife and sent her all of these. Yeah, and I saw a considerable change, you know, in, in, in as little as a week. So It's, it's just amazing for her not to take— yeah, popping pills left, right, and center when you can do it naturally. And yeah, you know, I definitely still get, um, because I do take quite a few supplements and stuff, but I do get brain fog still and, um, walk into a room and can't remember why, that kind of thing. Get my time wrong, get my days mixed up. So Yeah, you think about the andropause, uh, Chico, that everyone's going on about. All the men are going on about it. Oh, I've not heard about this. What is it? Oh, andropause. So it was on the front page of the Mail a while ago that men are now— they want equal rights and they want, um, time off for andropause when they get their andropause, which is— oh. Oh, okay. Well, um, you know, men are gonna try anything to get a bit of time off. But you know what, it's really, it's really funny. Um, I know, jokes aside, um, you know, women go into menopause at that certain age and stage, but men, um, also go through— yeah, they do— their, what they may call midlife crisis, because one is is lacking in estrogen, the other one is lacking in testosterone. Yeah. And unfortunately, in this last 3 and a half years, I've known 9 men, uh, who, who are larger than life, and sadly they're not here with us because they didn't see, uh, the light at the end of the tunnel. And this is the thing again, you see, women have this amazing ability to go through whatever they're going through, but you know, you just pick up the phone and she go, "All right, darling, come over." You know, a glass of Prosecco and you talk about it all and a problem shared is a problem halved. Whereas the men, especially old school men or the men that are in jobs that are kind of macho, well, they just bottle it in and they never actually want to talk about it. And the message is that we're trying to get out there as well, it's okay not to be okay. And just reach out. This radio station actually started, Chico, was Russ Kane. He used to be at Capital Radio and the Eye in the Sky. I don't know if you remember that. Yes, yes, of course I do. Yeah. So he was sitting in a pub one night and someone told him the actual statistics of male suicide, which is 80% It's 80/20 men to women. Yeah. He was so shocked by that, that that's when he started Men's Radio Station, which is like, you know, a health station. And for men to be able to listen in and email and get like information because they haven't got what you just said, they don't tell things to their friends or, you know, they're too macho to sort of go down the pub and say, you know, I don't feel good. Do you know what I mean? They just— Yes. Everything to themselves. So that's why I started the radio station. And wow, that's amazing reason. Yeah. And then of course, us women said, well, hang on a minute, how about us? Yes, we've got the women's radio station as well. But you are right. You're absolutely correct that women do talk to each other more and men hold it all in. And that's why the statistics are so You know, it's unbelievable. It's really bad. And again, all of these things could be prevented, as the Noble Master said, you know, prevention is better than cure. And what we're trying to do is give the message out there to say something can be done and will be done. You just need to reach out. But again, change can only happen when you are willing to make that change and you get into that stage in your life where you're like, I can't live like this anymore. I don't recognize the person staring me in the mirror. I don't, I deserve better. And again, this all comes down to, believe it or not, loving yourself and accepting yourself unconditionally. Because what we see in all of our retreats, people come on a Sunday and it's like, hi, meet my representative. And everyone's got this kind of image that, and a shield, if you will, and they're hiding behind it. And then what happens through the breathwork Well, you can't hide, and it just brings out so much emotional stuff that is stored up in their subconscious. And a lot of the times I just see 7-year-olds, you know, would be it childhood abandonment, abuse, physical, mental, whatever it may be, life, society, the system, and everything. You're kind of bombarded from every angle, but you've being acting in an unaware state. And those habits become your character and your character becomes everything that you are or you think you are. When really all we do is take a little rewind and go back to that 7-year-old and we heal that child. We heal that to love themselves and accept themselves unconditionally and to basically surrender to say, okay, I've got here. I'm not happy. I need that change. I've done it my way, it hasn't worked. Now let the experts or let this cosmic energy force to guide me in the right way. And it normally does because what you find is the answer is within yourself. But we need the healing to take place from within. So our, the Zubrat philosophy is it's an inside job. We heal from inside out as opposed to outside in. Yeah. And you know what it is as well though, Chico, is that people haven't got time for themselves anymore. And, and they, they need to make time for themselves like you've just said. Correct. And spend some time working on themselves and making life better because, because life now is just so stressful, isn't it? It really is. Completely. And it's by design, hun, and it's really, really by design. And there is no harder job than a mother's, uh, job. It just is because she is a one-stop shop. And because of the love of the mother, which is pure unconditional, they find themselves completely lost because they've sacrificed everything for their family. Yeah. Right? And then they wake up and go, wow, I'm not in the shape that I need to be. I'm not in the mindset that I need to be. And I'm not the person that I need to be or want to be. Oh, you know, so basically it's a case of like, you are bombarded with everything because you've got to make ends meet. And now parents haven't got any time because they're not working from 9 to 5, but they're probably working from 5 to 9. And what happens is any time that they've got off, they just buy gizmos for their children to just go, just leave me alone, I just need some peace. So you do that and then you self-medicate. Through a drink or whatever, whatever. And then what happens is we call that the box theory. Yeah, this was actually, I heard this by the great Tony Robbins way, way back and I kind of Chico-tized it, if you will. So yeah, we live in a box. That's a bed. You're in a hurry to get to work. So you eat your cereal in a hurry out of a box. You get into a car or a bus or a train. That's a box. You get to your work, that's your office, that's a box. You get your sandwich out of a box. You're stuck in traffic in the evening and then you eat your dinner in front of the box and you do it all week. And most people are pretty stressed on a Saturday, so they just get out of their box and you hang over the next day and you do it all your life until you get your pension and you end up in a box. So the Hugh Breathway is step out of the box, think outside the box. I like that, it's so funny. I like that. Yeah. That's brilliant. Well, because when everything fails, laughter prevails. And laughter medicine is also another modality that we introduce. Sometimes we do get laughter medicine. But really, laughter is one of the most unbelievable things that you can do. Even if you pretend, you see, your subconscious mind doesn't know if you're laughing for real or not. Even if you sit there for 5 minutes in the morning and you just put on your YouTube and watch something, or even if you just go like this for 5 minutes, it's— yeah, I know, and that sounds pretty crazy. And I used to look at people and go, man, you know, whatever you're smoking, we'll have some of that, you know. But all of these things are unbelievable, uh, modalities for healing. And the reason being is because you are again sending messages to your cells to let them know you're okay. When people are in pain, no matter what it is, mental, physical, spiritual, you are not laughing. You don't see anyone laughing when they're in pain. So if you can fake it, if you will, the cells don't know that you're faking it. It just goes, oh, happy. Happy means what? Heal. Heal from what? Well, whatever's bothering you at that time. Okay. I'm going to go around laughing a lot more. Well, I do that all the time. And when people are like, why are you always laughing? I say, because I haven't got a clue and I'm more confused than Scooby-Doo. So I'm happy. Yeah. Oh, it's so good. You know, I met you years ago, Chico. You always had like a kind of a way about you that was calming and kind. And I don't know, maybe you was just born with it. What do you think? I, I think, uh, well, thank you for that. Um, it's— yeah, you are kind of born with it, but it's also something you can cultivate, something you can work on. Because, you know, what you're born with is the gift that you've been blessed with. What you do with it, as in share it and make it with people, that's you give back. So, and it's a constant daily introspecting, means you self-audit. And when people say to me, what's the fundamental essence of what it is to be human? I say, well, it's actually finding your imperfections, your imperfections and busy yourself correcting them. In other words, you've got to look at yourself and go, don't wait for the world to change for you because it won't. And the more you resist, whatever it is that you're going to resist is going to persist. So what you need to do is go inside and go, okay, I was triggered by this. Why did I get triggered? What was the real reason? And once you start to be really honest with yourself, you'll understand that that is something in you that has to be rectified. And you, every day, you just say, am I better than I was yesterday? And again, it's finding out your why and finding out your strengths and your weaknesses and set about every day making a small change. Because as they say, even a 1,000-mile journey started with a first step. Or I would say even the Great Wall of China, started with one brick. Similarly, your change begins right now. And if you fail the next day, that's okay. Because as long as you're breathing and as long as you are willing to make that change, tomorrow is a new beginning and a new start. And I remember asking my spiritual master once, I said, who is the perfect student in your eyes? And he says, it's not the one that does everything perfect. It is the one that falls and gets up again. Falls and gets up again until they don't fall anymore. And that's again what we do with the, uh, the Hu Breath philosophy and the ethos and, uh, the programs that we have, like a 40-day Hu Breath Life Transformation. We've also got the 7-day for people that just, uh, busy, or the 14-day or the 21-day. But the 40-day is normally wow, because it takes about 21 days to break an old habit and it takes about 40 to 42 days to start a new one, for it to really be imprinted in your psyche and your subconscious mind, and for it to become a habit that is a heaven to enjoy and not a hell to endure. Okay, so when is your next retreat, Chico? So the next retreat right now, it's, um, um, going to be in Thailand, and that's going to be from the 6th of April, but that is to be confirmed. And then straight after that is the Atlas Mountains, but the dates that I've got confirmed 100% now is the 28th of April to the 4th or the 5th of May. Okay, the 4th of May and the 5th of May for another sort of week, and that is in Portugal. We've got the Croatia one 100%, that is from the 1st to the 7th of September. Yeah, and then of course I'm just about to release Machu Picchu, Bali, and, uh, Thailand. Uh, sorry, yeah, Machu Picchu, Thailand, and it was another place. I might have missed it, I don't know what it is. But obviously lots of UK dates as well. When's it— oh yeah, when is the English one, or you haven't got the dates yet? I haven't got the dates yet, but from next week, um, I'll be, um, putting all the dates up on our website, whobreath.com, H-U-BREATH.com. And, or if you can follow me on Facebook, I'm old school, it's Chico's Hu Breath. And just inbox me what, if you're interested in one of the retreats, as I said, the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, Marrakesh, Portugal, Croatia, Bali, Thailand, and Machu Picchu. And just say, I'm interested in this. And if you can send me a number and an email, I'll put you to the waiting mailing list. And I send out all the good deals, especially for the Black Friday next week. So I'm giving a really good percentage off as well. Okay. And what we'll do is I'll organize a day where we can get lots of menopausal women together and maybe spend a day, you know, introducing— we can organize a workshop. Absolutely. 100%. Would love that. Early next year or something, because you're going into Panto. I finished the 31st of December. We launch on the 9th of December, but my rehearsals begin on the 24th. So it's— Who are you and where are you? I am King Bling in Jack and the Beanstalk. I'm basically the princess's father. Ah. Yes, yes. So we are in Rhyl, R-H-Y-L, in Wales. Okay. And yeah, it's awesome. So if you are in the area and want to come and become a kid again and enjoy the, uh, the, the magic, then do let me know. I know I did it a couple of times with David, actually. Um, fantastic. It's, it's fantastic fun, and you have real— really make some good friends for life. But it's hard work, isn't it? Oh, it's hard work. Two shows a day, sometimes three shows, you know. So it's not for the faint-hearted, but I love it. I love it. I just love seeing the wonder of— what I love about it is, as I said, I'm old school and I just— it's one of the only art forms left that the father, the mother, the grandfather, the great-grandmother, and the kids and the grandkids can be at one place, in the same place, and enjoy what it is to be a kid again. And it's just wonderful. Wonderful. Some of the kids don't understand some of the jokes. They still— yes, because of the innuendos. Yeah. And that's what's great about it is the kids don't understand some of the jokes, it goes over their heads, but obviously the adults get it and they just chuckle to themselves. And that's what's beautiful, it's kind of innocent, but you know, it's something for everybody and that's what's beautiful about it because everybody gets something out of it. It's very English, isn't it? I mean, you know, yeah, it's such an English tradition and I hope that it never stops because I love Panzo. Yeah, I try to go every— watch it. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. It's been lovely chatting to you, Chico, and I've not spoke to you for quite a few years, but we did used to know each other and we were very well events and stuff like that, but I tend not to do that anymore. I don't know about you. Yeah, I hardly do that now. Now myself, but it's good to reconnect. We've always had a connection there, which is friendship and just a positive mental attitude. And we're always, whatever we did, we always made sure you're either having fun, laughing, or you're expanding and becoming a better version of yourselves. And this is where we're heading right now. And I can't wait to reconnect with you and set up this workshop. Invite your wonderful ladies. Sarah will be there too. And let's see how we can move forward and expand on this, because I really truly believe that, you know, we can, we can help in such a major way. And this is a major problem that really needs to be addressed. As you know, you know, especially with the especially with women who are premenopausal, say for instance, and they don't know they're going through it. And again, you know, I went through it and it was just like, no, there's nothing wrong with you, with me, it's you. And actually, if you can catch it earlier on and say, okay, we have got a change in hormonal imbalance. So let's see how we can do this through mindset, through health, through good food, good sleep, good vitamins, natural stuff and breathwork, then I think we can really minimize this situation. And that can only add to the greatness and the peace and harmony of families, relationships, friendships, et cetera, et cetera. So I really believe that it's paramount that we do this and take it to the next level and really throw absolutely everything at it that can make that healing process take place. Thank you, Chico. Yeah, they were absolutely right. It's great that we're getting out there more now with things like my show and magazines and people like Davina McCall and people like you as well that are kind of helping towards that. So thank you for your contribution and being so understanding about it all. Well, it's my absolute pleasure, and I think once you experience it for yourself and go through it yourself, you'll have a lot more sympathy and more to the point empathy because you realize, you know, I'm 50, I'm going to be 53 soon. My wife's going to be 56 also. And so, you know, we are all going through it in different levels, in different ways. And how I keep myself in top shape mentally, physically, spiritually is because I have to put that work in. And I have to remind myself that, listen, you know, I haven't got as many years behind me as I have ahead of me. Therefore, how do I want to choose to live my life? Well, I want to choose my life full of energy and happiness and gladness and contentment and joy and bliss and all of those wonderful qualities that the world should be. But we can only do it by taking responsibility for our own lives by taking the right action to take us to where we need to go. And as I said, as my grandma would say, a drop by a drop until the river floods. You know, so I have no idea why I make it Jamaican because she's Moroccan. But however, there is something in that, a drop by a drop, which is day by day until you reach that goal. And like you said, like I said, if you fail and you've fallen off the wagon for whatever reason, just dust yourself and go, you know what, here we are. And in the crazy world that we're living in right now, let's put things in perspective. And I know everything is relative, is a law of relativity, which is what's relative to you right now. But we must stop and look at the world, look at the Middle East, look at Ukraine, look at, you know, war-torn countries, look at Innocent people dying, look at people starving, look at— and you know, we here, we've got a roof over our heads, we breathe in, and all we have is something that is— we have to go through nature-wise, and nature has already said, well, guess what? If I'm going to bring you to it, I'm going to bring you through it, and I've got the remedies for you. Therefore, you just need to apply. Because we can supply. Well done, you. So, oh, it's been lovely talking to you, Chico, and the pleasure's all mine, hun. Just, just tell us your website once more before we go. Uh, whoo-breath.com. H-U-breath.com. Please bear with me, uh, I don't know when this is going to come out, but all the dates should be up next week. Uh, we've got some amazing discount about £300 off on this deal. So it's first come, first served. And if people want to follow me on Chico's Hu Breath on Facebook, DM me and we can go from there. And come and spend a week with us, transform your life. It's a total reset, rejuvenate and elevate. And what we can also do is we're going to give you the tools that you're going to integrate into your daily life and we're going to hold you accountable as well. And make sure that you execute all the things that are there to elevate you to becoming the best you. Okay, thank you, Chico. It's been lovely having you on, and so I'll speak to you. Likewise. Been lovely to talk. Absolutely. Thank you, and I'll speak to you very soon. All right, my darling. God bless. Have a beautiful day. Thank you. Bye-bye, love. Bye-bye. Okay, guys, so that was Some really interesting chat with Chico. Thank you for listening in. That was a really good show that I've had with Chico. He's an interesting man and very spiritual, and I'm sure it would be great if we all go off to one of his retreats. And today, thank you for listening, and this is Sue Moxley. This is The Menopause Show on Women's Radio Station, and follow us on Instagram and Facebook and on YouTube. And it's been lovely. I'll speak to you all in 2 weeks' time. Bye-bye.
