Women’s Radio Station is a very personal mission for its founder, H Jameson, who says “I was inspired to enable the creation of the platform and shared community for women, this could have benefitted my mother when she was alive, if only she could have accessed it. My vision is for a station run by women for women, focusing on the subjects that matter to them.”

As a radio we need your support, we’d love for you to tell your friends and family and join us on social media. Let’s tell the world. We also need your views on what we’re doing, after all this is your station. We want to engage with you and hear your thoughts. There’s also the opportunity for you to become involved. Find out more here

Welcome and enjoy the experience, it’s for you.

Bringing together women all over the world – of every race, religion and age; both as listeners and presenters – Women’s Radio Station will share all aspects of women’s lives, providing wit, warmth and wisdom in order to empower, inspire and entertain. Women’s Radio Station is a shared space. Over time, we intend it to become a global community, inviting contributions in person as we take the station to meet and broadcast women in their own communities – or through online discussions on social media.

Funny Women On Air

I set up Funny Women in 2002 as a ‘knee jerk’ reaction to a misogynistic comedy promoter. When asked why he hardly ever booked any female acts he said there weren’t any and furthermore ‘women aren’t funny’. The rest is history and this is my 15th year of proving him wrong!

At the heart of Funny Women is a desire to help women find their voice, whether that be through performing and writing comedy or using humour in business and everyday life. Our life blood is the Funny Women Awards which I launched in 2003 and now sets the gold standard for women breaking into comedy.

I have also followed my passion to encourage women to build their self-confidence and develop their own distinctive voice. Our ‘Stand Up to Stand Out’ comedy workshops show women and men how to use stand-up comedy techniques to perform, speak in public, grow in confidence, build teams and improve diversity. We run these publicly in London and in the workplace for corporate clients and individuals on request.

Kaye Holland
Kaye Holland

I was born and bred in Watford, a town labelled by Lonely Planet as “the kind of place that makes you want to travel.” They weren’t wrong: I lived and worked in the the Middle East, Caribbean, Asia and South America before returning to Blighty where I work as a travel and lifestyle journalist.

When I’m not working, I am out and about exploring London with Talk of the Town – a dynamic walking tour guide company I co-founded, that aims to provide the inside track on the London scene for locals and visitors alike.

I’m also interested in fashion, food and the arts (I serve on One New Change’s Style Council), socialising and sports: I am a season ticket holder at Watford Football club where I volunteer as a Vicarage Roadie – a team of Watford supporters who work to enhance the match-day experience for home and away fans. Hospital Radio (where I visit patients before co-presenting a request show on Wednesday) and politics (I’m an active member of my local Liberal Democrats group) are other interests.

However my biggest passion is international travel: free time and disposable cash is spent abroad.

Mariana and Maddy
Mariana and Maddy
Overshare

Maddy and Mariana are two comedians with day jobs. Maddy started doing improv because her dislike of having no free time ever is outweighed by her propensity for self-sabotage. She has since carefully constructed an improv community persona based solely on being a person who likes cats. The extent of any overlap with her actual self is unknown at present, but likely to be quickly revealed with the promised oversharing in the show. Mariana is caught in a lie, cause her day job is actually hard to define. She dabbles in a few creative things after giving up on her scientific persona and you can find her creating all kinds of content at any time. The extent of what this content creation entails is another thing that might just be overshared.

Overshare is our excuse to find out everything about everyone around us in our comedy community. We want to know so much, maybe too much, about everyone – their lives, their experiences and their opinions – the intimate, the embarrassing or the just plain weird. In return we’ll share a little too much of our own. We’ll start with a loose topic or question and it’s up to our guests if they choose to stay on theme or wander off wild tangents! We just want to know more about everyone around us! Just no sticking to the surface of the subject – let’s really get deep into it, whatever “it” turns out to be.
