In this captivating episode of Kitchen Sink Spirituality, host Avril Price welcomes the wonderful Joanna Waters, an astrologer, tarot expert, and author who has traveled from Greece to lead workshops in London. Joanna shares her lifelong journey into spirituality, from discovering an astrology book at age nine to her transformative encounter with tarot 35 years ago. Her story beautifully illustrates how spiritual paths often find us rather than the other way around, driven by an irresistible compulsion that overrides everything else.
Joanna reveals why she chose to make Greece her home 24 years ago after initially moving to London in the early 1980s, where she discovered formal astrology training. She discusses how the local Greek Orthodox community has gradually become more accepting of her work, though early resistance to tarot persisted due to outdated superstitions. The heart of this episode centers on the profound value of astrological readings, with Avril sharing how Joanna’s work helped center her during difficult times and made sense of the chaos in her life.
The episode emphasizes that your birth chart is as unique as a fingerprint—your personal astrological DNA that serves as a framework of reference for understanding your life purpose, relationships, health, and everything in between. Joanna’s hands-on approach to teaching astrology and tarot demonstrates these are accessible crafts anyone can learn, helping demystify spiritual practices and proving that spirituality is for everyone seeking to understand themselves better.

This is women's radio station. You're listening to Avril Price with Kitchen Sink Spirituality, the voice of holistic London. And just to remind you listeners that Kitchen Sink Spirituality is here to bring you news, views, and all that's going on in spiritual London. London is a bit of an oasis insofar as there's lots and lots of things going out out there for you to grab hold of, get involved with, and to explore your spirituality further. And today we are welcoming a visitor to London who has been doing some workshops here in town. She is an astrologer, she is a tarot expert, and she's an author of tarot books and astrology books. And we're very lucky to have the very lovely Joanna Waters here from Greece. And I can testify that she lives in a lovely part of the world where she runs summer retreats, and she's here to tell us all about her very fine work. So, hi, Jo, and thank you for coming. Hello, Avril. Thank you. Thank you for having me. Yeah, it's so great that you could join us. I know we've had a bit of a kefuffle meeting up and getting here on time, but we did it. Yay. And so thank you for your patience. No problem. And so it's lovely to be able to talk with you about your work today and to share with our listeners what exactly it is that you do and what's available to them should they wish, and so on and so forth. So, first of all, Jo, do tell us a little bit about you and maybe how you got into your field. How I got into astrology, well, it literally has been a lifelong passion. I think I was about nine when I first opened an astrology book and became fascinated. But to me, it was something that was a very natural area of interest, and it was something that I didn't even sort of question, if you like. I didn't. It was just a very natural subject for me to get involved with, and I think it was. I really had that feeling that it was a subject that was just waiting for me to find it, and I just became passionately interested. Do you know, that's a really. It's a funny thing because from several of the conversations that we've had with various people, it's almost like a spiritual path finds them. We don't actually find the path. It kind of looms up in front of us at some point on our journey through life. Would you say that's true? Absolutely. Absolutely. And I remember, I mean, I didn't discover the tarot until much later. But again, I can remember the exact moment when I was in a bookshop and I'm going back, gosh, 35 years and feeling absolutely that I had to buy this book and I had to buy these tarot cards, even though I didn't have any money at the time, but I knew I had to buy them. And again, I just became instantly fascinated. And that's been part of my life ever since as well. It's that compulsion, isn't it? I really get what you're saying, because I've had that myself. Yeah. And it. That compulsion, it kind of overrides everything else. Yes. And you're just absolutely driven. You've got to do that course. You've got to have that book on that deck. Yes. Yeah, that's it. That's exactly. Because when I moved to London in. Gosh, when did I move to London? In the early 80s. Where did you move from? I moved from the north, not far from real neck of the woods. Shared northerners. I think you're Lancashire last time, aren't you? Lancashire? Yes, I'm Lancashire, yeah. Yeah. And I moved down to London and lived here for 10 years before I moved to Greece. And that was 24 years ago. Somebody doing the math here. But yes, I discovered real astrology courses when I moved to London, and that was about 1986. It seems like a long time ago. Yeah, it is a long time ago, but I think that's a good thing in our field. I think that, you know, if we can maintain longevity in this industry, I think we've done really, really well. I think it's a testament to our expertise. I can still remember saying, in answer to the question, what do you do? I can still remember the first time I said, I'm an astrologer. And it just felt fantastic. And now, I mean, all these years later, I really can't imagine ever doing anything else. So why Greece? How come you ended up in Greece? Yeah, well, a bit of a love affair with Greece. Oh, I could see why. Yeah. Well, Avril said earlier that she can testify that I live and work in a beautiful place. And the reason she can testify to that is because she's been over and run a tarot group for the summer school, which was very memorable. It was as well. I had such a lovely time. You brought such lovely students with you as well. But my love affair with Greece goes back to 1982, when I went over to the island of Lefkada, just on holiday, just to stay with a friend who was already working There. And I just loved it. And I carried on going back on holidays as often as I could. But again, as with the compulsion with astrology, I always knew that I would live abroad. I knew that again from an early age. And I got to a natural break in my life and I thought, right, this is it, this is the moment to do it and where am I gonna go? And I thought, am I gonna go to a city? Am I gonna go to something a bit more cosmopolitan because of work? Or am I gonna go to Greece? Am I going to go to the island of Lefkada? So I went to the island of Lefkada, obviously, and thought, well, we'll see how it goes. And after two weeks, and the rest is history. The rest is history, I knew I wasn't going back. And that was 24 years ago. The testament of time. Indeed. So how do you find that the local people get on with your spirituality? Have you found resistance or are they really quite accepting of what you do? Mostly they're quite accepting, in fact, more and more. So I would say in the early days there was a bit more resistance, especially with the tarot, because that does have, as you no doubt have come up against yourself, does have some voodoo type connotations. And, you know, in a Greek Orthodox community there can be a little bit of suspicion about it, but mostly they're fascinated and especially by the astrology. Yeah, I think, thankfully tarot and esoteric studies have really contemporized itself in recent years. But yeah, I do. And every now and again I still get these kind of really outdated ideas about tarot and esoterics and spiritual path working, that really it's for the devil and we're all witches and. Yeah. Which is a whole new radio program because we love witches. We love the feminine. I like being a witch. Yes, well, we love it. But that is just what you said there is so important, because that is absolutely what I teach is how does this stuff work? So what I. The way I work and the way I write and the way I teach is very hands on. It's not me standing there talking, you know, it's really demonstrating how these crafts work and showing that these are crafts that anybody can learn. Indeed. Actually, one of the reasons I was very keen to have you come on the show was that I have actually had an astrological reading with you. And I remember it being so helpful at the time. In fact, I think we've probably had a couple. We have. And it really centered me. It really put me back on my feet and gave me something to work on at a time when I was really feeling quite desolate within myself. Yeah. And it kind of made sense of the chaos that was happening around me. And I think that that is at the heart of what spiritual studies, spiritual pathworking is all about, is to understand the chaos you're born into and how to shape a for yourself out of it. And I really do believe I've come away from that session with you thinking everybody needs to have an astrological chart done. Oh, well, I'm not going to disagree with that. I mean, the wonderful thing about horoscopy, as opposed to just sun sign astrology, horoscopy is your horoscope. And nobody else has got your horoscope, Nobody else can ever have your horoscope. It is unique, as we are all unique. Bit like a fingerprint. Exactly like a fingerprint, yeah. It's the moment that you are born and it's captured and how. And as you just said earlier, when you look at your horoscope, your unique blueprint, if you like, your astrological DNA, it does make sense of where you are in this world, how you've come into this world, the sort of things you're supposed to be experiencing. It covers everything from your life purpose to your work to your relationships, your health, everything. Your everything. And it's a framework of reference, it's a frame of reference for people and it keeps you on track, especially in difficult times. I can really understand that. It's like a planetary anatomy of your life. Yes. We're gonna go into a quick break now and we shall be right back with you with the lovely Joe Watters. You're listening to Avril Price with Kitchen Sink Spirituality, the voice of holistic London. And I'm here today with a very fascinating and wonderful Jo Waters. So, Jo, we were just getting into this really lovely conversation about an astrological chart being our unique and individual fingerprint, if you like. So let's just talk a little bit more about how you learned astrology. Is it because you said that everybody can learn it? So what does that actually. Two front teeth? What does that actually mean? I do think with astrology, even more than the tarot, I think the astrology needs conversation. I think you need fellow students. And I learned at the company of astrologers that used to be based here in central London. And I would say it takes anything from three to five years to become proficient in the craft. But you can start learning and applying your knowledge straight away. It's very much an immediate thing. I'm sorry, I've lost track of what the question was that you started. Is that how you developed your skills? Yes, the training process and I think the conversation and the interaction with other students is very important. And obviously you need to be with somebody who knows what they're doing. But working with example, horoscopes straight away, this is the way that I teach. So all of my students work with case histories of mine or they work with the horoscopes of famous people. But primarily they work on their own horoscopes because you are the authority on your own life. So I suppose then that this could be a great tool for self discovery. Matchless, I would think. How was that as an Experience. Did you kind of throw yourself into it, or did you think, oh, I don't like these certain aspects about myself. I'm not sure that I want to go further. Well, looking in any mirror can be a bit uncomfortable, can't it? Yes, indeed. Because. And I do use that analogy a lot. I say that your horoscope is like a celestial mirror. Yeah, I see the same thing about Tarot. You look into it. And this is actually a very important point because astrology is not causal. In other words, it doesn't make you do. Your horoscope doesn't make you do things. Planets don't make you do things. We're working on the symbolic principle of as above, so below. So in other words, your horoscope is reflecting back to you how you already are. Do you know what? I love this conversation. I love it so much because since some of my discussions with you and my work with Tarot, and oddly, Tarot wants to teach of itself about its astrological assimilation, which I find deep, intriguing. But I feel that what I've learned is that everything is symbolic. The whole physical plane is pure symbolism. That we live in a symbolic world and that we correspond to our life through the symbols. And one of the debates that comes up in one of my courses is, you know, after we look at the Chariot, for example, which has got lots of planets and zodiac signs on it, we ask, is there such a thing as free will? The 64,000. It's a great question, isn't it? Because one could argue, or rather some people argue, that we are influenced by the planets, like the moon, for example. We're not influenced. We are symbolized by them, if you like. Yeah, the planets themselves, you know, at some level, the planets are just lumps of rock in the sky, you know, orbiting happily away up there. We as human beings have assigned meaning through eons of mythology and symbolism and magic and astronomy and all of these different threads that get woven together and have created this fascinating frame of reference that. And. And the more you go into it, the more you realize it works. The fascinating thing is, why does it work? I don't know, really, but it. But it does. I was reading something about this, you know, about some of the Greek classics, about Aristotle and Pythagoras and da, da, da, da. And it occurred to me that. Do you think that there might be room in actually to rewrite what the meanings might be, or do you think that they're pretty much set in stone? You mean the planets, the meaning of symbols and so on and so forth and how we do apply a meaning to them and how we correspond to them. Well, I think that it's a very good point. But astrology works just as Tarot does, in as much as you start off by learning your traditional meanings. So, for example, we would learn as astrologers that Venus's women love. She's Aphrodite, she rules everything sweet and beautiful. She rules jewelry, fashion, women, babies love. Mars is God of war. He's men, he's aggression. He's how we go to war, how we do battle in life. He's our energy, he's our cut and thrust, all that kind of thing. But when you look at a particular horoscope, you then get from the universal meaning into the particular meaning. And each planet will mean something for each individual, depending on how it's positioned in the horoscope and how it's operating at any given time. And you can look at the horoscope as a frozen moment in time. That's the natal chart, the nativity. But you can also look at the chart as a mechanism in perpetual motion. And that is how astrologers predict. So we can also retrodict. We can go back, we can look at any date in your life and say, this is what was happening, or we can look at what's happening now, or we can look at any date in the future. Think can be really, really helpful because it can empower, it can clarify, and it can kind of bring you up to speed with yourself and some of the life choices you've made. I think it's a marvellous tool to have. Yes. And it does. The question, you know, the $64,000 question about fate and free will, and I know a lot of some colleagues would disagree with me, but the more I've gone on with astrology, the more I've come to believe that there is a pattern, there is a plan. You know, it's not completely set in stone. I mean, obviously there's lots of our personal input going on all the time. Yes. But in terms of major life events and life purpose, I think it was. I think it's destiny. God, how extraordinary. Because how could you retrodict. How can you go back and say this is what already happened if there wasn't a plan? Yeah. So we're kind of touching upon this idea of personal contracts, stuff that we've agreed to do before we come to the Earth plane, and then that's how it's gonna symbolically physicalize itself on its journey. Yes. How we manifest it all. So we're Bringing from the universe a whole series of correspondences and symbols into the physical world to help us understand the physical world. God, that's just mind blowing, really. When you really sit and think about it, it is mind blowing. It's fascinating because I know that we've had this conversation before about Saturn. I've got this relationship with Saturn. He's my best buddy, she says loudly, so he might be able to hear. But you know, I also think that I think about the other planets in life, like Mercury, for example. I've been thinking a lot about Mercury lately because I do think I'm quite a mercurial person. And I think Mercury plays a great part in my chart, as far as I'm aware. And so I was thinking about how if somebody wanted to make an alliance with a planet. Do you think that that is. What am I trying to say here, Avril? I think you might be saying how do we recognize each planet in our own horoscope? Thank you. So how do we do that? Yeah. So you obviously need to start with your horoscope and you need your. To produce a horoscope you need your personal data and by that I mean your date of birth, your place of birth and your time of birth as accurately as possible. It is a problem when people don't have any idea what time they were born because you don't get the same accuracy. But ideally the time is as accurately as possible and that gives you your picture. Then you can see where all of your planets are. Suddenly you're not just talking about your sun sign. So you as. As in Aries, Avril. We would talk some about the Aries nature and the Aries symbolism, but then we've got 10 other planets to look at and lots of other components of a horoscope to look at. And we look at how all that hangs together. Well, we're just going to go into a quick break now and we're going to come back and chat about that in a minute. And we're here in conversation with the very fabulous Jo Waters. And before the break we were talking about sun sign astrology and planets. And planets and all things marvelous like that. Yes. So sun signs. So you know when somebody picks up a newspaper and they look at their horoscope, how does that kind of work? Because I know you've written for media before. I've done lots of media work over the last 30 years and it can be fun to do, but it can also be quite restrictive because you know you are of course just writing for a 12th of the population every time you write about a sun sign. But you are still using the current astrology, your text is informed by the current astrology, the unfolding astrology, and not just by the characteristics of the sun sign, but horoscopes, as people call sun sign columns. They're a bit of a double edged sword. The good thing about media astrology is that it keeps astrology in the public eye because I think without horoscopes in newspapers and magazines and websites, how would astrology have stayed alive? So it's great in that respect. And everybody knows their sun sign. Indeed, even people who think astrology is a load of rubbish, they will know their sun sign. You know your sun sign, like you know your name. It's part of your identity. Indeed, we all know it from. We don't know when we first learned our sun sign, do we? I think what's remarkable about that is that for people from every walk of life read their horoscope. And I know there's some people that read it avidly, but they wouldn't necessarily call themselves spiritual or inclined towards esoterics. What do you think the magic is of horoscopes? I think that even people who read it avidly probably don't actually really remember what is said to the extent of carrying it with them for the rest of the day and acting upon it. But it is a little window, isn't it, into your purpose and a little window into this. As we were saying earlier about locating yourself within your world and feeling that there is something else going on that isn't just down to you, that you are being guided, there is a plan. And I think astrology is very comforting in that respect. I know astrology is very comforting in that respect. I've seen it happen with clients thousands of times. I think comfort is a great word for it, because when we were discussing our work together with astrology, I felt very comforted. Yes. And I think that, you know, so we can certainly see an astrology chart as a tool for healing as well. Yes, absolutely. And one of the things I do teach my students as well is don't shy away from talking about the difficult stuff either, you know, because that's even more important. And yes, of course, it's lovely to see wonderful things happening in a horoscope, but nine times out of ten, when somebody consults me as an astrologer, it's not because they're having a great time, it's because they're having a difficult time. So we have to learn how to communicate these challenges in life and why they're happening and how long they're happening for. The great thing about astrology is that you can see difficult things coming to an end as well as seeing that purpose. And you can literally see lights at the end of the tunnel. And it gives people a lot of comfort and a lot of focus and a lot of coping strategies for life as well. So, sun signs. So my sun sign is Aries, but that is not the Whole picture, is it? Not by any means. But it is important because your sun sign is your essence. Yeah. So. So you will recognize Aries characteristics in yourself. Absolutely. But all your other planets have then got to be taken into consideration. Yes. So Mercury, Venus, Mars, et cetera. And these will all be in. Some will be in the same sign as your sun sign. Maybe. But you could have all the planets in all different signs and all different parts of the horoscope, because my ascending sign is Taurus. And I'll always remember what you said. You said you even look like a Taurus person. So ever since that conversation, you know, if I'm looking for Aries, I'll automatically look for Taurus as well. And actual fact, I found things more compatible in Taurus than they were in Aries. Because sun sign astrology in the newspapers is written as if you've got the same sun sign and the same ascendant. So often the astrology written for your rising sign or your ascendant can be more relevant to you in that format than your sun sign. So are sun signs a part of horoscopy? Horoscopy is the craft. Yes. Of constructing a horoscope and interpreting it. And how long does it take to actually create a horoscope? Well, these days it doesn't take long because I've got. When I first started learning, we didn't have software, it was only just starting. So now is the touch of a button. You literally enter in your data and you can go into various websites, you can put your data in your date, time, place of birth, and up it comes. But learning to interpret it, of course, is another matter. If I'm working with an individual client, I will spend about two to three hours working on the horoscope before I then speak with the client for an hour, an hour and a quarter. Marvelous. That's a lot of work that goes into it. It is a lot of work because you're not just looking at the natal picture. Most of the work is about preparing what's called the transit. In other words, what is happening now, what planet is doing what now, and comparing it to that natal picture. So back to our as above, so below idea. That's how astrologers predict. They're comparing the moving picture, the one above us, to the natal picture, the one below us, the picture of the actual horoscope, which is that frozen moment in time, your birth time. So if somebody came to you for you to create a chart for them, what would be your first thing to look at? What was your first go to in that chart. That's a very big question. Every chart is different. So I'm actually quite old fashioned. I actually draw my horoscopes by hand. I use the software to do the mathematics, but then I actually transpose that information onto a drawn horoscope rather than printing one out. For me, that is a dying craft, it's a dying skill, but it's a beautiful one. And I take pride in drawing up my horoscopes and I like the artistry of it and I like the relationship that I develop with a horoscope as I'm drawing it out. And this is where maybe a little bit of the psychic thread comes in with astrology work that you do get some insights as the horoscope's taking shape into your hands, but then also simply that the craft information is there as well. I know where all the planets are today and what they're doing and I can see what's important. So I know you write a fabulous newsletter. I really love getting your newsletter because it's so informative of what all the planets are doing. I love my book blog. The blog comes out every Monday morning and it's the astrology for the week ahead. Written in simple, easy to understand terms. There is some technical stuff in there for students, but overall the thrust of it is to show astrology at work, how to use it, how astrology can be a useful tool. Back to coping strategies and what to expect so that things don't, you know, take you so much by surprise. Well, there's so many times I've read your blog and I thought, well, that explains it then. That's why. Yeah, and I tried to put in current affairs every now and then as well. To show astrology at work in the world. Yeah. Now you see, that's another interesting facet about political astrology or world news astrology. Can you tell us a little bit more about that? Well, when you're aware of what the astrology is for the week, you will see it going on in your own life, but you also see it going on in the lives of those around you and you also see it going on in the world at large. Because there's been all kinds of crazy stuff happening recently with Putin and Trump. I mean, there's always something crazy going on with Trump, it seems. To be honest, I steer away from political astrology because it's not everybody's interest. I try to, to keep it personal in the blog, but. Yeah, but the. But the blog is the guidelines for the coming week and how to approach your life and how to deal with things and what to expect and what to avoid. We're going to another break now and we shall be right back with Jo. Women's Radio Station will give a voice to your brand. Symptoms will vary from person to person and include abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation or burn, bloating and swelling, excessive wind and the need to rush to the toilet. IBS can often lead to feelings of isolation and severely impact people's working and personal lives. Suffering alone with IBS can be devastating. Our charity, the IBS Network, helps people every day. We receive no NHS or government funding. By donating just two pounds per month, you will be part of the IBS Network community of support. You'll be able to contact an IBS medical expert and you will help others like you to live well with IBS. To find out more, please visit theibsnetwork.org or call us on 011-427-23253. This is Women's Radio Station. You're listening to Avril Price with Kitchen Sink Spirituality, the voice of holistic London. And I'm in conversation with Jo Watters and we're talking astrology and sun sign and we were just having a chat about world events. Yes, astrology, Astrology blog and it is a brilliant blog, I have to say, because, you know, I read through it myself and it kind of sets you up for the week. Gives you half a. It gives you the heads up, it does on what to expect, what might be coming. I even have readers who email me if it's late. It's like, where's the blog? No, but it does come out religiously every Monday morning and if anybody wants to sign up for it, all they have to do is send me their email address and I can add them to my mailing list and then they will receive it straight to their inbox. Or you can read the blog on my Facebook group, which is called the World of Astrology. And I do post it on there as well. And I do normally post on my website, but that is. That is under reconstruction at the moment. That's really brilliant for us to know about. And. And is there anything else that you'd like to add before we move on to some of this other stuff that you do? So what can people expect from an astrological chart should they want to come to you? You mean from a personal reading? The most important thing that people get from a personal reading is to look at what's going on in their lives right now and what's coming up. It's about making sense of unfolding events in their lives and it's also about having an opportunity to ask questions about their immediate future, about their best choices, about seeking their line of good fortune, as we call it in astrology. So, yeah, it kind of empowers people to make quality life choices and it's also about making sense of particular issues that are going on in people's lives as well. So that could be anything from family to health. Anything. Could be career, could be health, could be relationships. Mostly it's relationships. It's the big one. It's the big one. Yeah. But. Yeah, and then there's another fascinating era of astrology called synastry, where you compare two horoscopes to see if you are compatible or not. Oh, good. Do you get much call for that? Yes, the. Because it really does explain a lot of attractions, frictions, makings and breakings of relationships. It's all in there. The astrology will tell you everything about a relationship from the moment you met. We better bring you back at some point when next time you're back in London so we can just talk about. Just about relationships. Yeah, That's a big subject in its own right. Yes. So, Marva, so if people want an astrology chart done from you, they can go to your website. They're better off just emailing me at the moment. Okay. What is your email? The email is Joanna J O A double N a W. Don't forget the W at otnet, which is O T E N E t dot GR for Greece. So we've been very lucky to have you here in London, albeit a very short time visit. But what have you been doing here in town? I came to run a tarot workshop this time. Mostly my workshops happen up in Hampstead. I do try to get here as Often as possible. I'm hoping to do more regular workshops. I'm hoping to be here end of June, July and August, because those are the months that fit around my Greek Island Summer School. Greek Island Summer School happens in May and early June and then again in September. It doesn't happen for the rest of the year simply because the July and August months are way too hot in Greece, far too hot for people to come and study, and also too expensive for people to travel during school holiday times. So what did your course entail this time? What did people take away from. The workshop I just ran was all about card meanings. It was about. It's very akin to what we were talking about before. It was teaching the traditional card meanings, but then teaching students how to not enter into. Not to get into some kind of symbolic straight jacket with those card meanings, but to show them how they could work fluidly and creatively and with the symbolism of the cards and to show how, like a horoscope, every tarot spread is different, isn't it? Absolutely. So it's the same. You're in the same territory, really. You're in this dilemma in some ways of learning traditional craft and then almost having to forget it. But it's how it's a springboard into the craft and how it enables you to move forward and work creatively and accurately with the symbolism that's showing. And did you do an astrology course as well this time? I didn't because I didn't have time, unfortunately. But I will be back. At the moment, I'm scheduling workshops for the third week of June, July and August. And it's here in London. In London and usually in Hampstead. But details will be on the. On my Facebook pages. The world of Astrology. There's another Facebook group called Astrology and Tarot UK Workshops. Yes. And there's another Facebook group called the Greek Island Summer School. Yes. And, you know, I've got to say, you come highly recommended. And I know that anybody who studies with you is not going to be put wrong. And I just think it's really, really important to get a good teacher. You can struggle away trying to learn by yourself. And, you know, there's probably some really great books out there. Speaking of which, you have written some yourself. We'll come to that in a minute. But I just want to make the point that if anybody is looking to study astrology and to couple that with Tarot, then you are probably one of the best to go to. Thank you very much. Overall, it's very nice of you well, yeah, because, you know, there's such a lot out there. And I think the idea behind. Behind my program is to let listeners know that what the best of the options are. And I think, you know, if you're going to embark on an esoteric journey, you need a good guide and teacher. So what? You've also got Greece. And I've got to say, Greece is a bit fab. I know. It is wonderful, isn't it? Yeah, it's idyllic. I mean, what better place to learn astrology than the Land of the Gods? Exactly. Greek island. And you do get into the spirit of it. Cause I know. Cause I was there. And it kind of really does capture you, all the mythology. Yeah. It's a beautiful place. You sit on your lovely terrace. Yeah. Greece is my passion as well as astrology. So the two together. And teaching is a passion. I love to teach. I love astrology. I love Greece so. Well, I just think you can't fault that, can you? And I really do think that teaching are born and not created. So I'm sure that in your astrological chart, for example, it would come up. Yes, it does. It does show that you're a teacher. Yeah. I've got a textbook chart for teaching and astrology and living abroad. And the books are. The books. Yes. I wanted to have a chat with you. How many books have you authored? Well, there's three books I've authored. Three, which is Astrology for Today and Tarot for Today. Two separate titles, which actually came out. 2005, I think. Yes. And then most more recently, Be youe Own Astrologer came out with Chico Books, CICO in March 2015. And that's being reissued later this year as they're actually going to edit it, take out the technical stuff and reissue it as like a sort of gift book idea. So it will just be sun signs, ascendants and planets in a separate issue. Wow. And there's another tarot title under discussion, but nothing definite at the moment, but it looks like it's gonna happen. Yeah. And so, Jo, it's been lovely chatting to you. Great to be here. Thank you very much for having me. And we hope to see you again maybe in June and July when you come back to do your courses again. And thank you so much for being such an inspiration. I've really enjoyed our conversation. Me too, Avril. Thank you. Thank you, Jo. Thanks. This is women's radio station, Kitchen Sink Spirituality. You're listening to Avril Price, the voice of Realistic London. And we're talking to Jo Waters and we're talking about your events in group. Yep. The summer school's actually entering its 17th year. Can you believe? Not quite sure where all that time has gone. As I was saying earlier, we don't do courses in July and August because it's the heat of the summer. Most of the courses happen in May. This year we're starting May 16th with astrology and Herbal Law. That's being run by Elizabeth Brooke, who is a very well known author and fantastic astrologer and herbalist. She's got a stack of books under her belt, another new book coming out. So I'm really excited about Elizabeth coming May 23rd we've got discovering Astrology and that's the beginner's astrology week. So anybody who wants to come and learn from scratch, or even somebody who's been dabbling and just wants some focus and structure to their studies, that's the week to do. May 30 We've got predictive techniques and synastry, which is the relationship astrology. And you need to have done a beginner's course at least before coming on that course. But those are the three courses coming for the first half of the summer school and there'll be a tarot week in September. I wish you all the very best with those. I'm sure everybody comes along will thoroughly enjoy. Yeah, we're looking forward to this season. Thank you, Jo. Thank you.
